Introducing a Different Type of AI

Introducing a Different Type of AI

PART 1: Introduction.

Data about the experience-based intelligence used in cognitive decision processes are not recorded in systems or documented because it is outside of human awareness… New York Times. Because this data does not exist, it cannot be used to train machine learning AI -- neural networks and large language models like ChatGPT.

Internet of Thought? is a company language model (CLM) that combines neuroscience and technology. It identifies the experience-based decision-making intelligence of superstars and transforms it into meaningful terms. The Internet of Thought? technology uses those terms to establish models that duplicate the cognitive decision-making processes of individual superstars. Over time the CLM can include decision-making models of other individuals.

Why Superstars: “The top 1% of workers are superstars who account for 10% of a company's output, and the top 5% account for 26% of output,”… FORTUNE. Even the most gifted individuals need a minimum of ten years (or 10,000 hours) of experience to become a superstar. In some complex fields, it can take 15 to 25 years. Most that put in the time do not become superstars… Harvard Business Review.

Many organizations do not realize how important superstars are for speed-to-market and productivity. “[Superstars] are 400 to 800 percent more productive than average performers. Suppose your business strategy involves cross-functional initiatives that would take three years to complete. If you took 20 percent of the average performers working on the project and replaced them with superstars, how soon would you achieve the desired impact? If these people were 400 percent more productive, it would take less than two years; if they were 800 percent more productive, it would take less than one year. ?If a competitor used 20 percent more great talent [superstars] in similar efforts, it would beat you to market even if it started a year or two later.”… McKinsey

Soft skills: ?“Decision-making skills are the?soft skills that you can use to help solve every problem at a company… Numerous types of skills go into decision-making, including analysis, creativity, collaboration, and leadership skills.”…Harvard University. Soft skills are the foundation on which everything else is done. Soft skills might be all that matters.”…Forbes.

MIP AI Internet of Thought? offers revolutionary change by eliminating the need for beginners to develop experience-based intelligence and soft skills from the ground up. They can start at or near the superstar-level.

An Intelligent Guide: Internet of Thought? functions is an intelligent guide for decision-making and soft skills.? The tool uses the intelligence of superstars to guide individuals as they make decisions. ?Decision-making “cognition is really complex” and consists of a series of choices that are made before reaching a decision. “Every instance of decision-making is slightly different.”…Stanford.

Internet of Thought? models automatically adapt to constant change, and they can handle decisions for almost any situation in a superstar’s area of expertise. It is possible to go through a superstar’s decision-making model thousands of times and never go through it the same way twice.

A Different Type of AI: Internet of Thought? is different than other forms of AI. Expert systems make decisions for humans by using rules based on “widely shared knowledge – that is written in textbooks and journals… Merely following rules will produce poor performance in the real world.”…Berkeley? “Machine learning [AI] starts with [training] data — numbers, photos, or text.”…MIT ?“In cases where soft skills remain a top priority, [machine learning] AI can provide supporting information but is unlikely to offer a revolutionary change.”...Oracle ?

PART 2: Internet of Thought? Intelligence Pyramid.

The Intelligence Pyramid shows the different layers of experience-based intelligence that individual superstars use to make decisions. MIP’s Secret Sauce identifies that intelligence and transforms it into meaningful terms. The Internet of Thought? technology uses those terms and supportive information to establish models that replicate the cognitive decision-making processes of individual superstars.

Decision-making processes use perceptions to make a series of choices before making the final choice or decision, according to neuroscientists at Stanford. MIP Mind Connect, Corp. (MIP) has extensive experience in decision-making intelligence as well as AI, big data, and knowledge management.? This has enabled us to expand the Intelligence Pyramid beyond choices and perceptions.

Individual decision-makers sit on top of the pyramid because they make the choices. A superstar’s experience-based intelligence is the highest level in the pyramid. That breaks down into choices which breaks down into the conditions that are used to make a choice. Each condition can contain perceptions, input from human senses, and patterns of behaviors and feelings. Historical behaviors are the choices the decision-maker made in the past.? Each choice is associated with a cognitive response.

Supportive information that a superstar uses to make decisions can include data and analytics as well as BI and machine learning AI results.? It can also include knowledge that encompasses everything from examples, books, documents, and manuals to web pages, blogs, and videos. This knowledge helps others better understand the superstar’s intelligence. Only supportive information that the superstar uses or recommends is included.

Personal conversations happen when the decision-maker gathers additional information. Collaboration with connected minds and connected worlds is used when the decision-makers need to achieve alignment and/or reach an agreement among colleagues.

One-Term One-Meaning? is the integrator that ties everything in the pyramid together. It is established and enforced at every level. One-Term One-Meaning? enables understanding and creates a network of interconnected intelligence and supportive information across hierarchies, functions, world geographies, and business units.

PART 3: Replicate the Way Superstars Make Decisions..?

The Secret Sauce is a proprietary process that combines neuroscience and technology. It identifies a superstar’s unconscious intelligence for each layer shown in the Intelligence Pyramid and then transforms it into meaningful terms. The Internet of Thought? technology uses those terms and supportive information to establish models that duplicate the cognitive decision-making processes of individual superstars. And that makes the Internet of Thought? work.

Consultants use a psychoanalytic method similar to that used by therapists. It is critical that consultants understand that knowledge and intelligence are distinctly different. That difference has been debated since Plato. I use simple definitions that always work for me: Knowledge is specific information or facts about one particular situation, person, place, or thing. It can be documented, taught, and learned. Intelligence is always general. It adapts and applies to many situations, people, places, or things. It is also a process that uses knowledge and information.

STEP 1: FIND STARTING POINT. Consultants explain what they are seeking, ask a leading question, and then let the superstar talk.? Superstars can only provide clues to their intelligence because it is unconscious.? Consultants help the superstar bring up clues to their intelligence by asking “Why” and pointing out when they are providing knowledge. When consultants have a valid clue, they have a starting point. For example: When a superstar said, “I put people in boxes.”? We immediately knew it was a valid clue and began to ask questions.?

STEP 2: TRANSFORM CLUES takes place after each session with a superstar.? Consultants analyze the video and identify clues. They then use their expertise to: 1) transform clues into possible choices, conditions, and responses, 2) identify terms and assign possible meanings, 3) begin or expand a schematic that shows what the unconscious intelligence process looks like, and 4) prepare educational material for the next meeting.

STEP 3: VERIFY AND EXPAND. ?Experience has taught us that when we transform clues into intelligence and that intelligence is close to what the superstar actually uses, the superstar recognizes the intelligence. Superstars tell us when we are right and make corrections when we are wrong. Meanings are modified and approved.? Supportive information that needs to be linked to choices, conditions and responses are identified.? The schematic is constantly updated so that the superstar can visually identify clues to intelligence that are missing. Consultants continue to drive out additional clues. See what one superstar had to say.

STEP 4: AUTOMATE INTELLIGENCE and add links to supportive information when the information is available. Algorithms necessary to establish a model that duplicates the superstar’s cognitive decision-making process are already built into the Internet of Thought? technology.

Steps 2 through 4 are repeated until the process is finished.? Consultants test the model in real-life situations. It is not done until consultants can arrive at the same decision as the superstar.

The Internet of Thought? Secret Sauce has been used to capture and transform the intelligence of CEOs, CFOs, strategic planners, economists, marketers, managers, salespeople, physicians, K-12 teachers, engineers, and systems managers in different industries.

PART 4: Knowledge and Intelligence Are Distinctly Different.

Sustainable Success = (Superstar Experience Based Intelligence + Knowledge + Data). The Internet of Thought? uses this Sustainable Success formula to enable organizations to:

  • Cut decision-making cost by at least 40%.
  • Get products to market faster.
  • Retain and share superstar intelligence from scientist and physicians to brand managers and salespeople.
  • Improve the 3 Cs: communication, collaboration, and coordination.
  • Make individuals 400 to 800% more productive than average performers in days instead of years.

Many scholars and scientists believe experience-based intelligence is the highest form of intelligence. Superstars are the top 1% of individuals who account for 10% of a company's output... FORTUNE. “[Superstars] are 400 to 800 percent more productive than average performersMcKinsey.

Currently beginners and most of a company’s workforce use immature and ineffective experience-based intelligence, because:

  1. Understanding that over 95% of thinking processes take place in the unconscious mind has yet to permeate everyday thinking…Harvard
  2. Verbalizing, observing, and quantifying unconscious intangible processes are extremely difficult... New York Times.
  3. Becoming a superstar currently requires that individuals spend years developing experience-based intelligence from the ground up, and most individuals who put in the time do not become superstars…Harvard Business Review.

The Internet of Thought? software and the implementation methodology explained in Part 3 of this article solve the second and third reasons a workforce uses immature experience-based intelligence. But, they do not solve the first reason. That requires education.

The ability to access and use data is available through Business Intelligence (BI), machine learning (ML), and AI neuro networks (ANN). Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT are making it easy to query and use knowledge.

The Internet of Thought? integrates and uses all three components of the Sustainable Success formula:

  1. Experience-Based Intelligence from the Internet of Thought? implementation methodology.
  2. Knowledge from LLMs and other tangible mediums.
  3. Data from BI, ML and ANN systems.

The difference between “knowledge” and “experience-based intelligence” has been recognized since the time of Plato, but the definition of the two words is illusive.? I use the following definitions.

KNOWLEDGE is static, tangible, qualitative information or facts that usually becomes obsolete or unnecessary over time. It is:

  • Readily available to the conscious mind.
  • Acquired through books, education, computer programs, and experiences that can be? expressed through language, diagrams, manuals, or other tangible mediums.
  • Usually about one specific situation, person, place, or thing that was true at a particular time.

EXPERIENCE-BASED INTELLIGENCE is dynamic intangible intelligence that constantly adapts to change. It is:

  • An unconscious cognitive process that integrates and applies intelligence, knowledge, and data while making decisions and solving problems.
  • Currently developed by each individual from the ground up through years of trial and error experience.
  • Not found in documents and computer programs or taught in universities and lectures.
  • Usually general, adapts to change, and applies to many situations, people, places, or things.

An important aspect of a superstar’s experience-based intelligence is that when it is applied and used to make decisions and solve problems, it recognizes and uses knowledge and data that are essential and ignores the rest. The Internet of Thought? uses that intelligence to enable individuals to produce superior sustainable outcomes in a fraction of the time currently required.

PART 5: An Intelligent Framework Empowers Revolutionary Decision-Making Change.?

The Internet of Thought? Implementation Methodology captures the experience-based intelligence, knowledge, and data needed to replicate a superstar’s cognitive decision-making process.

MIP Internet of Thought? Intelligent Pyramid shows the elements in a superstar’s cognitive decision-making process. The elements encompass every level of the pyramid from CHOICES to COLLABORATION WITH CONNECTED MINDS AND CONNECTED WORLDS. The SUPPORTIVE INFORMATION layer might include knowledge from Large Language Models and data from business intelligence systems, machine learning, and/or neuro network results.

The INTELLIGENT FRAMEWORK stores and processes replicas of superstars’ cognitive decision-making processes, so that replicas:

  • Behave like the superstar’s original cognitive decision-making process.
  • Adapt to constant change and different situations.
  • Communicate with individuals via voice, point and click, or both.
  • Can be viewed, read, spoken, and easily shared.
  • Are used by anyone with security clearance.

An INTELLIGENT FRAMEWORK combines neuroscience and technology. According to Neuroscientists at Stanford: Decision-making “cognition is really complex…Every instance of decision-making is slightly different.” Perceptions are used to make a series of choices before making the final choice or decision.
As individuals make a decision or solve a problem, the INTELLIGENT FRAMEWORK overcomes complexities by using a replica of a superstar’s cognitive decision-making process to:

  • Prompt individuals to make the right choice at the right time.
  • Determine the next choice based on previous choices so unnecessary portions of the replicated decision-making process are skipped.
  • Identify and/or provide the essential knowledge and data needed for the situation at hand, so non-essential intelligence, knowledge, and data can be ignored.
  • Show examples and the meanings of terms so individuals understand the superstar’s intelligence.
  • Explain how individuals should respond once a choice is made.
  • Save, access, and use historical choices that explain exactly how a decision was made, or a problem was solved.
  • Understand how individuals in different functions and locations think by using replicated decision-making processes of superstars in those areas.

The Internet of Thought? INTELLIGENT FRAMEWORK, empowers an organization to:

  • Create superior sustainable outcomes in a fraction of the time and cost currently required.
  • Retain and share cognitive decision-making processes of superstars when they retire or change jobs.
  • Enable inexperienced individuals to perform like superstars in days instead of years.
  • Bring products to market faster.
  • Simplify, improve, and accelerate communication, collaboration, and coordination.
