?? Introducing Conversation Summaries in Google Chat

Starting today, Google Workspace users can access conversation summaries to stay updated on long, unread conversations in spaces. This feature, available only for Google Workspace accounts, ensures you don’t miss important messages by automatically:

• Appearing when necessary in conversations with many unread messages.
• Providing summaries in English.

Key Features:

• Turning Conversation Summaries On/Off:In Google Chat: Open Google Chat, go to Settings → Conversation summary, and check or uncheck the box next to “Show summaries in spaces with many unread messages.”In Gmail: Open Gmail, go to Settings → See all settings → Chat and Meet → Manage chat settings → Conversation summary.
• Gemini Summaries in Home: Eligible Google Workspace subscribers can use Gemini to summarize unread group messages, spaces, and threads in Home. However, it does not summarize:1:1 conversationsBot messagesConversations with history turned off

Admins and users can manage conversation summaries in their settings. Additionally, feedback on Gemini’s output can be submitted to help improve this AI-driven feature.
