Identity, lived experience and passion are not competencies for individuals or companies who practice workplace DEI.
The majority of D&I studies and practices are focused on employment, legal, research, and academics. Few if any are focused on the practitioner of the work. The heart of this work, the nucleus, is the practitioners competency for this work.
To address this, we present the C3 System: Workplace Equity Competency Framework, a comprehensive guide that equips D&I practitioners and leads within organizations with the competencies required by the stakeholders responsible for these strategies and initiatives.
This framework will improve the standard of delivery and quality of results. Important to note is that this framework is specifically designed for the workplace setting.
This framework is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather a flexible tool that can be universally applied to any organization, individual, or industry, regardless of location or sector.
The D&I space continues to be an unregulated industry that is emerging constantly with new independent providers and/or in house roles. This framework ensures that we do no harm in the workplace.

The user of this framework can deploy through self assessment to determine growth and strength areas.
This framework can also serve as the underpinning for protocols, policy, and leadership development in and among people development teams throughout the organization. Furthermore this framework can serve as a baseline for recruiting and hiring D&I practitioners.
Many have found additional value in adding these competencies to the performance evaluations, coaching, and assessments of external D&I providers and the hiring of internal D&I role holders.
