An Open Letter to Impact-Driven Women Who Want to Build Unapologetic Worth & Wealth
"When we invest together, we win together."
From day one, the focus of the BAD BITCH EMPIRE has been on helping women break barriers and build wealth through investing. Our work has been dedicated to leveling the playing field for women through financial literacy.?
Investing is the most powerful generator of wealth, and investing in women isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do.?
As women, we control 85% of consumer spending, earn 60% of undergraduate and graduate degrees, and are on track to generate $97 trillion in global wealth by 2024. From a business perspective, women-led companies deliver more than twice the revenue per dollar invested. Data shows that between 2002-2014, Fortune 1000 companies led by female CEOs saw 226% higher returns than their S&P 500 counterparts.
Women are the most powerful economic force. We drive innovation and greater financial returns. Representing 51% of the world’s population and controlling 85% of consumer spending, women are the largest market opportunity and agent of change.
However, our value and power are consistently overlooked, undervalued, and underfunded. This oversight is reflected in positions of power, allocation of investment dollars, and recognition in product development and policy making across industries.
Today, women comprise less than 2% of financial institutions’ CEOs and just 4.1% of Fortune 500 CEOs. Despite outperforming their male counterparts, female-managed funds account for just 1.3% of the $69 trillion investment industry in the United States. Only 4.9% of partners at venture capital firms are women. Of that number, Hispanic and Black female partners make up 0.4%. Additionally, while female-founded or cofounded startups generate higher revenues, they see a fraction of investment funds. Only 2% of venture funding goes to women. Less than 0.2% goes to women of color.
The situation is dire. Women are largely excluded from leadership. We remain outside of the conversation when it comes to accessing, earning, and managing money. Our voices are not represented in the necessary rooms to advocate for our bodies, our boundaries, and our bank accounts. These age-old systems impact us, future generations, and society as a whole.
Claiming recognition, equality, and a seat at the table requires taking advantage of this major disconnect. While big business and male-led investment firms overlook a massive opportunity, we can invest early, create change and profit together. We can not only have a seat at the table, but we can build our own table
We cannot afford to sit around. We cannot assume that change will happen because we want it to or that it will happen through others’ actions. The result of inaction is perpetuating unfair systems and a “boys club.” To overturn these systems, we must shift our focus from individual change to collective action.
Introducing the BAD BITCH EMPIRE Fund
As a result, the BAD BITCH EMPIRE is now evolving.?
We are launching the first global community venture fund building unapologetic worth and wealth for women.?
Our mission: To fund the next billion dollar female-led businesses creating exponential positive impact for women and the world.
Our investment focus is on early-stage companies solving the greatest societal challenges affecting women. We aim to invest in companies that solve challenges within these three main areas:
Body: By 2026, the women’s healthcare market will be valued at $70.8 billion. Women make up a majority of the healthcare and social care workforce, but only 5% of healthcare leaders, and face healthcare expenses that are 80% higher than men.
Boundaries: 63% of women and BIPOC feel unsafe and are targets for crime online. We aim to support companies that are focused on community and improving the safety of women.
Bank Account: Economic empowerment for women is critical to promoting gender equality and economic growth. However, 42% of women globally don’t have access to bank accounts. Our aim is to invest in teams that are working to promote financial inclusion and workforce development for women.
We look for companies that focus on these challenges while recognizing the billion-dollar opportunity of unapologetically putting women’s needs & perspectives first. We define these as Bad Bitch Businesses.
Leading these companies and comprising the BAD BITCH EMPIRE community, we are building a collective of Bad Bitches.?
Bad Bitch: A woman who unapologetically takes charge of her body, boundaries, and bank account.
