Introducing Astra

It fills me with immense pride and joy to announce the successful conclusion of the maiden class of the Astra Fellowship Program, with 40 exceptional fellows graduating and ready to make their mark on the world.

The Astra Fellowship was born out of a resolute mission — to empower high-achieving young innovators with the tools and resources they need to cultivate their leadership abilities, embark on purpose-driven journeys, and achieve remarkable success. At Astra, we firmly believe that self-awareness, resilience, adaptability, and innovative problem-solving skills are essential for personal and professional growth in this ever-evolving technological landscape.

For me, this program holds deep personal significance. Throughout my own entrepreneurial journey, I have encountered, invested in, or learned from incredible visionaries like Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli of Leap Africa, Uche Pedro of BellaNaija, Opeyemi Awoyemi of Jobberman, Abasiama Idaresit of Wildfusion and Shola Akinlade of Paystack, amongst others whose determination to find purpose, clarify their mission, and unite others to achieve their goals has been truly inspiring. I owe my leadership development to these leaders and many more, and witnessing their impact on the world has reinforced the importance of foundational skills and a strong sense of self in unlocking an individual's potential for greatness.

The inaugural cohort of fellows, carefully selected from a pool of talented candidates, embarked on a transformative one-month journey. Guided by our esteemed coaches and drawing from my own leadership development at the prestigious Program Leadership Development at Harvard Business School Executive Education , we designed a curriculum centered around self-mastery, authentic leadership, and professional development. In the following months, these fellows will be paired with mentors who are moral exemplars and accomplished professionals as they chart their course forward. The outcome of this immersive experience is the emergence of a cohort of self-aware, purpose-driven leaders poised to make profound contributions to society.

To the exceptional fellows of the maiden class of 2023, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. This is a momentous milestone in your personal and professional growth, and I encourage you to step boldly into the world, one task, project, and outcome at a time. Remember, you are part of a supportive community of innovators and comrades who share your aspirations. Lift each other up, support one another, and believe in yourselves as we all believe in you. Undoubtedly, you will face challenges along your journey. Life can be demanding and unforgiving, but your true character will be forged through these trials. Embrace each obstacle as a stepping stone to greater heights, fueled by your unwavering dedication, perseverance, and a sense of purpose.
