Introducing: Arjit Mehta, Managing Director at D'Ornano + Co.

So many new faces have joined D'Ornano + Co. in recent months as we accelerate our financial and strategic advising mission to serve investors and founders in this period of technological #Discontinuity. We thought we would introduce the new team members, who bring a wide range of financial and technical skills to this new phase.

For Arjit Mehta , Managing Director at D'Ornano + Co. , understanding how companies make money has been a lifelong obsession. Based in New York, where he grew up on Long Island, Mehta brings this passion to D'Ornano's expanding U.S. presence, helping clients navigate what he describes as not just disruption, but true technological discontinuity.

Arjit's career path reflects his evolving fascination with business value creation. After undergrad, he started at a hedge fund, diving deep into debt and equity investments. "I wanted to understand how investors think about owning businesses," he explained. "If I wear Nike clothes every day or drink Starbucks coffee, what does it actually mean to own one of these companies?"

This curiosity led him to entrepreneurship, launching a digital advertising agency focused on reaching the South Asian community in the U.S. The experience taught him crucial lessons about customer acquisition and ecosystem building. After business school, Arjit joined McKinsey, where he spent over seven years focusing on consumer technology, media, and entertainment – including streaming video, video games, and sports. His work spanned both corporate strategy and private equity investors.

The decision to join D'Ornano came through a mutual connection, but what really drew him was founder Raphaelle d'Ornano 's distinct perspective on technology's future trajectory. "She had developed a point of view on where technology is going, as opposed to where it is today," Arjit said. "She was doing something that was a new form of diligence and output that really helped investors make more informed decisions."

As D'Ornano expands its presence in New York, Mehta embodies the firm's blend of deep analytical thinking and forward-looking strategic insight. His role combines his strategic expertise with the entrepreneurial challenge of building the firm's U.S. presence – a perfect mix that draws on all aspects of his varied career experience.

Arjit sees D'Ornano's value proposition in straightforward terms: "We prevent clients from making mistakes that could severely hamper returns, and we help them rethink ways to look at their current businesses to build more resilient growth in the future."

When Arjit is not working, he likes to: Travel with his wife and experience new cultures. They seize every opportunity to explore new destinations, though their New York City home base provides plenty of cultural richness. A devoted sports fan, Arjit loyally supports the Giants, Yankees, and Knicks. He also follows major sporting events around the world, having attended the International Cricket Cup last year and hopes to make it to the French Open next year.

Food plays a central role in Arjit's life. While he describes himself as "clearly not a fantastic cook," he enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and exploring New York's renowned restaurant scene. Among his favorites is Torrisi, an Italian restaurant in Soho that he praises for combining trendy modern dining with "old-school New York Italian charm." But his most cherished dining spot is Lucali, a Brooklyn pizzeria that holds special significance – it's where he met his wife in 2014.

Current book: Mehta is listening to Malcolm Gladwell's "Revenge of the Tipping Point" on audiobook, examining how understanding social contagions can sometimes have negative societal effects – an intellectual interest that parallels his professional focus on understanding disruption and change.

Quote: Arjit likens the current AI revolution to the early days of the internet but with even more profound implications. "It's not just changing how people create content or run a business," he said. "It's effectively changing the way businesses exist and who can create those businesses to scale."?

So thrilled to have you on board Arjit Mehta! ????
