Impressive piece of technology.
It could be a real new paradigm if Apple has done it well enough to be really usable, and enjoyable (others have not until now).
It's Apple they have waited so long to launch it could be.
I would need to test it to understand how seamless it is, both in vision and hand controls in various scenarios.
Some experiences make a lot of sense and can be really be a breakthrough.
Will need at least 2 cycles and maybe 5 years to become mainstream.
We will need to wait 2024.
Big question remains: how long should, could, would keep this on us?

The new device from Apple, called Apple Vision Pro, appears to be a groundbreaking development in spatial computing. Here are some key features and details of the Apple Vision Pro:
- What it is: Apple Vision Pro is described as a spatial computer that blends digital content with the physical world. It uses the user's eyes, hands, and voice as inputs and introduces a fully three-dimensional user interface.
- visionOS: This device runs on visionOS, Apple's first spatial operating system. It allows users to interact with digital content as though it were physically present in their space.
- Performance: The Vision Pro contains custom Apple silicon in a dual-chip design to ensure real-time experience. It includes an ultra-high-resolution display system with 23 million pixels across two displays.
- New Experiences: The device introduces several new experiences, including an infinite canvas for apps at work and home, engaging entertainment experiences with ultra-high-resolution displays, and the ability to play a range of games with varying levels of immersion.
- Immersive Environments: The device comes with a feature called "Environments" which expands the user's physical world with beautiful and dynamic landscapes.
- Memories: Using Apple’s first three-dimensional camera, users can capture, relive, and immerse themselves in their memories with Spatial Audio.
- FaceTime: FaceTime calls become spatial with Vision Pro, reflecting users in life-size tiles and providing a more immersive experience.
- App Store: The device comes with an all-new App Store where users can discover apps and content that automatically work with Vision Pro's new input system.
- Design: The Vision Pro has a unique design with a singular piece of 3D formed and laminated glass acting as a lens for the device's array of cameras and sensors. The device has a compact design, is customizable, and uses the most advanced materials possible for comfort and wearability.
- Hardware: It uses a unique dual-chip design, includes a high-performance eye tracking system, and has a robust audio system to create immersive experiences.
- Privacy and Security: Apple has ensured that privacy and security are central to the Vision Pro. There's a new secure authentication system, called Optic ID, that uses a user's iris to unlock the device.
- Pricing and Availability: Apple Vision Pro will start at $3,499 (U.S.) and will be available early next year at Apple Store locations and on apple.com. More countries will be added later.
This announcement marks a significant shift in the future of computing, according to Apple. By creating a device that merges the digital and physical world, Apple is providing users with new, immersive experiences that could change how we interact with technology.
I have used and cooperated in bringing to market for football (EU) years ago a very similar experience. It was just unusable. Maybe because of quality of software and hardware.
The real question is can Apple make this exciting and usable for us?

1 年Good post Carlo! I think this is potentially the next chapter in personal computing. The price point might be a deal breaker, but remember when Apple (and others) started the computing revolution in the 80’s? Prices were also crazy back then yet loads of people became early adopters.

1 年Apple, shut up and take my money ??
Wonder whether this could the right direction to donate peripheral view to remote camera operators in assisted remote productions. Also, it could be the device enabling virtual attendance to a public events : concerts, meetings, large conventions. All of those appointments where attendance is fruition more than interaction. Once again, a different (yet potentially hugely remunerative) form of remote production tool.

1 年This is a surprisingly only a 2D launch although I assume it has VR capabilities, but with all the bad press Metaverse has, this is maybe a smart way to position their Vision Pro. I see this more as a platform launch that will draw both developers and content parts, in short first stage of the rocket. As this is aimed at developers, use case, interface and prices are meaningless at this stage. Looking forward further discussions in our industry especially as we now have the facts.
