Denver Museum of Science and Nature Upgrades to an all LED System with SGM Q-2's

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science aimed to modernize the outdated lighting in the West Atrium stairwells. The goal was to switch to an all-LED system to lower energy consumption, enhance visitor experience, and improve safety with responsive lighting controls. The museum needed even lighting across the translucent stairwell walls, while maintaining energy efficiency.

BCER Engineers recommended14 SGM Q-2 fixtures for their ability to evenly illuminate the stairwells with fewer fixtures. The Q2-’s energy-efficient LED technology met the museum’s standards for performance and sustainability.

The upgraded control system offered dynamic features such as time-based scenes , occupancy sensors and emergency integration.

From January to March 2024, Denver Electric installed the Q-2 fixtures and control system, delivering optimal light coverage with minimal energy use. The project resulted in significant reduction in energy usage with the all-LED system, improved safety by full illumination during occupancy and emergencies, and even lighting enhanced the beauty of the translucent stairwells.
