Introducing the AI Leadership Lab: A New Frontier in Leadership Development
Last year, the advent of ChatGPT 3.5 marked a seismic shift in our understanding and interaction with generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI). As these technologies morphed from a slow-moving tide (with a 30+ year history) into a tidal wave washing over every business function, it became clear that today’s leadership models were being, and going to be, disrupted.
While Agile Leadership Journey seeks to be at the forefront of pioneering leadership development, we too felt awash in this Gen AI tidal wave. However, we also felt compelled to act.
Why the AI Leadership Lab?
The AI Leadership Lab was born out of a necessity to address our own uncertainties in the face of this transformative AI wave. Leaders from across sectors—business, government, and more—were turning to us for guidance, and we quickly realized that the best way forward was together. We feel any other response is likely hypocritical due to our foundational teaching of catalyst co-creative leadership. By forming this lab, we invited influential leaders not just to seek advice but to join us in defining the future of leadership in an AI-driven world.
Our Mission: Hybrid Leadership Development
The Agile Leadership Journey mission remains steadfast—to build better leaders. However, the landscape in which leadership occurs has fundamentally shifted. This new generation of leaders are operating at the intersection of humanity and technology, leveraging AI to enhance decision-making and strategic vision. The AI Leadership Lab is dedicated to developing these hybrid leaders—capable of integrating real human connection and insight alongside technological prowess.
To this end, we are building practical applications and resources. One of our key initiatives is the creation of a hybrid leadership development AI Coach in partnership with CurrentWave AI . This sophisticated tool is designed to offer personalized learning experiences and leadership coaching, allowing leaders to interact with AI in a controlled, secure environment that respects organizational boundaries and safeguards intellectual property. We will share more on this approach separately.
Additionally, we are compiling a comprehensive resource library that not only provides educational materials but also leverages real-world use cases of AI in leadership. These resources aim to equip leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate AI use cases effectively, enhancing their ability to lead in increasingly complex scenarios. By integrating these technological advancements with traditional leadership principles, we are setting a new standard for personal and professional leadership development in the digital age.
Our Approach: Exploration through Collaboration
Recognizing the uncharted nature of AI in leadership, we have initiated the formation of leader cohorts, starting with our advisor cohort in January 2024 which comprises esteemed leaders who are not only seasoned in their respective fields but are also pioneering users of AI for enhancing business and governmental operations. This diverse group serves as our guiding coalition, setting the strategic direction of the AI Leadership Lab and ensuring that our explorations and developments are both innovative and grounded in real-world applicability.?
April 2024 marks the exciting launch of our first explorer cohorts. These intimate groups consist of early adopters who bring a pioneering spirit to our collaborative learning ecosystem. Their mission is not only to navigate the new territories of AI and leadership but also to actively participate in refining our approaches to AI in leadership. With a commitment to intimate group sizes and a regular rhythm of engagement, these explorer cohorts are poised to make significant contributions to our developing library and platform through exploration and feedback. They will help define best practices and innovative strategies that will benefit future cohorts and the broader leadership community.?

11 个月Pete Behrens gave me a climpse into the "AI Coach" last Sunday ?? . Believe me, it was mind-gobbling to see them react like a Catalyst. Not just regurgitating endless advise but being en point and asking a really good question back. Will be exciting to see how that develops! My wishlist feature would be a "dial to seemlessly tune the replies between Expert, Achiever and Catalyst" ?? . A bit more Expert advise, tune down. Too much details, tune up towards Catalyst - how cool is that?
