Accreditor: Medaille board didn't understand severity of financial woes
Speaking of education, this week Business First published a story by Katie Anderson that dovetails with a story published last week about the downfall of Medaille University. This one highlights a report by Medaille's accreditors that was highly critical of the university's Board of Trustees.
“Despite its fiduciary responsibilities, the board disclosed that it did not understand the comprehensive, near-fatal nature of Medaille’s financial distress until it was ‘too late,’?” the Middle States Commission on Higher Education report states. “It ‘stayed out of operations’ until it became evident the institution’s survival was in jeopardy.”
