Are you a health tech start-up looking for funding?
Giant health invites health tech start-ups looking to raise money to apply to attend a private, invitation only, meeting in central London with a group of 30 vetted health tech investors. All these investors have a demonstrated track record of regular investment in early-stage tech ventures.
This meeting will take place on the third or fourth week of February.
If you are an established start up, with a team already in place, looking to raise between ￡500,000 and ￡1 million. Please message me with your one-page investor executive summary. We have two places left for start-ups to pitch at this event, contact me.

UK Government announces ￡140m Artificial Intelligence award
Matt Hancock has announced the funding will be distributed over the next three years. The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care’s address to the Health Tech Alliance detailed that they would be inviting applications for the funding twice a year through open competition.
The Accelerated Access Collaborative (ACC) will run the competition. Initially, the focus will be on projects that work on screening, diagnosis, system efficiency, and clinical decision support. All stages of the product lifecycle will be supported from proof of concept, real-world testing and initial adoption in the national health care system.

Babylon Health and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust announce 10-year partnership
Patients and staff at the trust will use Babylon’s technology to manage care through a free app. It is hoped that the patients will gain control, faster treatment, fewer hospital visits and increased homecare. This will be facilitated by Babylon’s symptom checker. This will provide 24-7 digital support to aid in recovery.
The chief executive of the trust stated that it was clear that “patients of all ages and backgrounds…[were] keen to use technology". David Loughton commented that the collaboration, expected to go live by the end of 2020 would not only benefit patients but also empower staff. More...

Leeds-based Pinpoint garners Angel Investment

Leeds based, PinPoint Data Science uses AI and machine learning to analyse simple blood samples and ‘rule out’ cancer. The company aims to use its technology on all cancer types. PinPoint has already achieved a 25% rule out; if applied it could have potentially given 500,00 patients peace of mind.
The fund will aid and enable implementation trials. With the aim of starting trials in the middle of this year, there will also be R&D work to improve the product, ensure regulatory compliance and allow them to purchase new equipment.

Paris-based Chronolife raises un-disclosed sum

Chronolife uses artificial intelligence to predict health events before they occur. Its HOTS (Hierarchy Of event-based Time Surfaces) algorithm allows a real time fusion of data from a range of sensors. The company launched Nexkin?which is a washable smart T-shirt that monitors key physiological parameters to enable prevention and remote monitoring, and has received the CE mark.
The French company announced that the amount would finance the clinical trials needed to obtain certification in Europe and the US for their predictive chronic heart failure service.

is an exciting and important new international foundation to eradicate childhood pneumonia.
Childhood pneumonia is the number one killer of children aged five and under worldwide; tragically, about 950,000 children die every year from pneumonia.
The goal of the 10MC is to create an international organisation with an exclusive focus on eradicating childhood pneumonia across the globe, by facilitating research, fundraising, education: highlighting the issues and promoting awareness and developing solutions across social progress, empowerment, and supporting tech innovation to improve diagnosis and treatment.

Meet Diarmaid Sam...
My name is Diarmaid Sam and I'm currently a college student. I'm looking for a research orientated internship and I'll be able to work 40 hours a week this summer from 22nd July to 26th August.
I have a particular interest in the biomedical sciences, which is where the majority of my skills are based as well as some coding skills for data analysis. I have learnt this as I realised that such programming skills are in high demand in the field.
