Is intramedullary nailing of femoral diaphyseal fractures in the lateral decubitus position as safe and effective as on a traction table?

The study evaluated and compared the radiological and clinical outcomes of femoral diaphyseal fractures treated in two different positions: the lateral decubitus position without a traction table and the supine position using a traction table. The research aimed to outline the perioperative surgical techniques for both methods. The findings indicated that the lateral decubitus position without a traction table is a safe and effective alternative to the traditional supine position with a traction table. It also highlighted several benefits of the lateral decubitus method, including reduced surgical time and lower radiation exposure.
