This week has seen the commemoration of several World Health Days. From World Sepsis Day to World Patient Safety Day, the month has shown the importance of naming things in our lives and why one must brand oneself if they are to be an unconventional healthcare provider (more on this is available in my course on the same name that is available here: https://theonealternativeacademy.com/the-one-alternative-view-towards-becoming-an-unconventional-young-health-professional/)

Annual Leave / Physician Health Thyself / Dopamine Junkies
This is very important so as not to get burnout and stress. As Dr. Jacqueline Nyaanga and Dr. Diana Marion always remind us during our joint KMA events. Hence why no sooner than I felt my dopamine levels reach optimum I decided to take a one-week break. This is also known in the West as a Dopamine Detox (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/dopamine-detox#does-it-work)
Unfortunately, some of the people I deal with don't understand boundaries and will still insist on asking work questions when I am on break. Perhaps it is a sign that I now need a personal assistant, but good PAs, who work for free / a stipend are hard to find these days. This reminds me of the days I would work in my mother's travel agency to get pocket money for high school. I never set a boundary then (as a teenager) and struggle to set that boundary up to today as an adult but I have amazing support from friends and family (they know themselves)
So why is a name/brand important?
So ChatGPT had this to share as the answer
Naming is crucial for several reasons, impacting everything from personal identity to branding and cultural significance:
Choosing a name thoughtfully can have a profound impact on identity, branding, and interpersonal relationships
None of Your Business
Kenya Doctors and Pharmacist are still being harassed about a single business permit as highlighted by Dr. Simon Kigondu on his latest TikTok Live( https://fb.watch/uGVQPht5Ew/ ). Again seeing as I am on zero brain cell mode like a ginger cat this leave, here is what GPT told me about single business permits and the importance of a name or brand:
When naming a business, the choice of name becomes especially important as it plays a critical role in several aspects of establishing and running the business. Once you've selected an appropriate and impactful name, securing a single business permit becomes an essential step in legitimizing your operations. Here's how the naming process and the single business permit interrelate and why they are both important:
Importance of Naming in Business:
1. Identity and Branding: The business name serves as the primary identifier, encapsulating the brand's essence. A well-chosen name can convey the company's mission, values, and the nature of its products or services. It can set the business apart in a competitive market, helping it to stand out and be recognized by potential customers.

2. Legal Considerations: Before registering a business, it's crucial to ensure that the chosen name is unique and not already in use. This is important for avoiding legal disputes and ensuring that the business can operate under its desired name. In many places, you need to check with the registrar of companies or a similar authority to verify the availability of the name.
3. First Impressions and Marketing: A name is often the first thing people encounter about a business. A memorable, meaningful, and easy-to-pronounce name can make a strong first impression, aiding in marketing efforts. It can help create an emotional connection with customers, influencing their perception of the brand.
4. Cultural and Social Resonance: Depending on the target market, the name should resonate culturally and socially. It should be appropriate for the audience and should not carry unintended negative connotations.
The Role of a Single Business Permit:
1. Legitimizing the Business: A single business permit is a critical requirement for operating legally. It signifies that the business has been authorized by local authorities to conduct its operations, lending credibility and legitimacy. Without this permit, the business could face fines, closures, or other legal issues.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Obtaining a single business permit ensures that the business complies with local regulations. This includes adherence to zoning laws, health and safety standards, and other municipal or county regulations. Compliance is necessary to avoid potential legal complications.
3. Business Identity Verification: During the process of obtaining the single business permit, the business name is registered with the local authorities. This registration protects the business name in that jurisdiction, preventing other entities from using the same name within the same category of business.
4. Access to Services and Opportunities: Holding a single business permit is often required to access various services and opportunities. For instance, it may be necessary when applying for other licenses, opening a business bank account, or bidding for government contracts.
5. Public Trust and Confidence: Having a single business permit can increase public trust. Customers are more likely to engage with a business that is officially registered and recognized by the authorities, as it provides a layer of accountability and assurance.
Integrating Naming with the Permit Process:
- Research and Selection: Before applying for a single business permit, carefully research and select a business name that is unique, culturally appropriate, and aligned with your brand identity. Check its availability to ensure it can be legally registered.
- Legal Compliance: Use the chosen name in all official documents during the permit application process. This ensures consistency and helps in establishing the business's legal identity.
- Marketing and Promotion: Once the permit is obtained, the business name can be used confidently in marketing materials, signage, and promotional activities, knowing that it is officially recognized.
In summary, naming your business is a strategic step that influences branding, legal standing, and market perception. Securing a single business permit is equally important as it formalizes the business's legal operation and protects its identity. Together, these steps help in establishing a solid foundation for a successful business venture.
