The Interwoven Threads

Everyone Comes Your Way For A Reason

Last week I was recording a feature for Development Dynamics with a great host, Rafiki. There is something special about him. Do you ever meet some people and you know for some reason something aligns in your paths? I got that from him.

This was a source of joy for me. We are all connected and are interwoven threads weaving this grand picture of life.

No one comes to your life for no reason. You just have to allow your eyes to see that you are because others are.

Then I headed out to Machakos for a meeting with people I admire and have seen me grow in my work in the HIV response. I have also been part of the growth of the young people that were present. It was like a beautiful family reunion. I laughed from my belly, my loud unfiltered laugh. And I was reminded why I do what I do, why it matters and why it is important.

In My World?

We had some heated conversations here and there but by the end of the day, you know you are with your people. In my world, these people make the population and are different in all the amazing ways. Everyone has their role and is so needed for the balance of my world.

Flory? who is always laid back and silent told me how proud she was of me and she would pray for me. She told me somethings were not of this realm and needed spiritual intervention.

I am so grateful for people who tell me loudly with words and actions that they care for me, I always feel so blessed.

Kristine who lives in Kakamega read my book and told me as soon as schools open, she will be pitching it to schools she works with. We have had minimal connection before this and this was her going out of her way.

This is why my world is so abundant. It’s because people are wanting the best for me without even asking. I hope I get to be there for others as much as others are there for me.

Last month a friend of mine, Ace, who I met at a conference in Miami in 2018 came to just see me with his baby Z. I had such a great time and so did my family. When you see people go to great lengths for you, it’s such a flex. It also makes you want to make them feel the same and carry this forward. I can’t wait to go see them wherever they will be and also show them around Murang’a where baby Z and I hail from.

Authentic relationships can bring you so much joy. I hope you have your people and you get your people if are yet to. People who water you as you water them. People who make living in this world a little more fun, a little more joyful, a little more happier.

It is a good indicator of joyful living and wellbeing.
