Methods for gathering primary data, or techniques to obtain information gained from original sources especially for the study. Methods for gathering data are a crucial component of research design.
PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION METHODS
A lot of the information required to make decisions in the workplace has to originate from people because business is primarily a social phenomena. Examples of these people include employees, customers, managers, investors, and/or suppliers. This is why questionnaires, observation, and interviews are so common in business research; these techniques let the researcher get a wide range of distinct types of data from actual respondents.
Having a solid understanding of the most crucial techniques will assist you in assessing other primary data collection strategies. As you will see, there are connections between the various processes in the research process and the primary data collection choice, which entails choosing the method or methods of acquiring the required information. Because of this, the method(s) you use will be determined by the study's objective(s), research questions, and research approach. The choice of method(s) will also be influenced by the facilities available, the level of precision required, the type of data requested, the duration of the study, the reviewer's experience, and other expenses and resources related to and available for data gathering. Issues investigated using the proper techniques significantly improve the value of the study.

UNOBTRUSIVE TECHNIQUES
The researcher can conduct their studies without having to engage with the subjects through non-intrusive methods. Researchers who aim to learn what people actually do—as opposed to what they claim to do—in interviews or surveys, may employ non-intrusive methods. Unobtrusive data is best illustrated by internet clickstream data. Almost all business websites these days track visitor traffic in order to get visitor statistics. One can have a comprehensive grasp of the website's clientele by analyzing the conduct of these visitors. This aids managers in forecasting not only probable future patterns of behavior but also the reactions of customers to (potential) marketing initiatives. In this way, managers can effectively shape their marketing activities with the help of clickstream data (cf. Park and Fader, 2004).?
Managers can also get comprehensive information regarding the impact of marketing initiatives (such price promotions) on sales by utilizing scanner data, which is information on consumer goods sales collected by scanning product bar codes in retail establishments (see to Van Heerde, Gupta, and Wittink, 2003). The number of different brands of soft drink cans found in trash bags, which indicates the amount of consumption, the wear and tear of books in libraries, the signatures on checks exposed to ultraviolet light, which can indicate fraud and forgery, and actuarial records, which are useful for gathering information on births, marriages, and deaths in a community, are some other examples of non-intrusive methods. The utilization of inconspicuous data sources and their research is crucial in behavioral science.
