Interviewing a hero
I was honoured last week to interview soprano singer Anne Sofie von Otter for my fledgling podcast, Harmonious World.
She was so insightful in terms of how she started as a singer and her approach to music. She's a pragmatist and absolutely committed to musicality, which was so good to hear. I have to confess to being more than a little star-struck, which is rare for me.
The Harmonious World podcast was inspired by a quote I read from Quincy Jones. He said: "Imagine what a harmonious world it could be if every single person, both young and old, shared a little of what he is good at doing." By interviewing musicians, composers and producers of the music we listen to all the time, I want to make my own contribution to a harmonious world.
So far, I've interviewed Canadian singer/songwriter Laila Biali, American violinist Niv Ashkenazi, Russian pianist and composer Ros Gilman and now Swedish Anne Sofie von Otter. What a great privilege! That's an impressive list and I'm proud of those interviews (although not always of technical prowess, for which I beg forgiveness).
Please do listen to the podcast if you can, and let me know what you think: https://harmoniousworld.buzzsprout.com/
