Interviewing HealthCare Leaders – Tackling the Mental Health and Emergency Care Crisis (Part 2)
Joining the Dots to Transform Our Health and Social Care System
This week, in the second of our 4-part series I continue my conversation with Dr Julian Nesbitt and Michael Kaiser when we discuss the challenges in ‘Accessing Mental Health Services’, and ‘Turning Around our Emergency Care Crisis’.
Hear us continue tackling the big Qs with practical solutions and transformation ideas when we discuss:
Mental Health
What are the solutions?
How can digital health technology help?
How user-friendly are these digital platforms? What is the patient experience?
Emergency Care
How much of these capacity issues are in the control of the Trusts that can be resolved by improving pathways and efficiency and how much is outside their direct control and needs system collaboration with partners to resolve?
For patients that present but do not need hospital care, what is missing in the current system that prevents us from signposting the right care first time and managing them appropriately in primary care?
What are the key blockages in a hospital setting?

1 年An excellent idea. Let’s put it forward in our next debate on BHI.?
Helping young people and adults overcome the emotional barriers to living a full life.
1 年I remain unconvinced that that access to mental healthcare crisis can be solved by IT. The crisis is primarily driven by loneliness. People need to feel they have been heard, which is an emotional adjustment process. Any remote 'intervention' should lead to better social engagement locally to have sustainable benefit. What is needed is emotional engagement training to strengthen local social connection systems. The sustainable solution is systemic, not only individual.
