Interview With Yves (Co-Founder at Authodia)

1) Where were you born and raised? Also tell us something unique about yourself.

Born and raised in Switzerland. I was a DJ from around 2004 until 2016.

2) What got you interested in marketing and what was your journey?

Back in 2011 or 2012, I started promoting a DJ project I was working on with a friend. I set up a Facebook page and an Instagram account, ran ads to grow our audience, and boosted posts to expand our reach. Soon enough, we were getting more DJ bookings, and I was instantly hooked on marketing. From there, I began teaching myself all the different areas of marketing, and in 2016, I took the leap into freelancing, focusing on digital marketing. One of my first projects was an online shop, where I managed Google Ads, Facebook Ads, email marketing, and some CRO — all while working part-time as a sales consultant. By 2017, I had started studying marketing formally, and in 2019, I landed an in-house role as a digital marketer for an e-commerce holding company. After a while working there, I knew I wanted to start something on my own again, and in 2022, I made it happen by starting Authodia.

3) What skills and industry do you specialize in?

Google Ads for E-Commerce.

4) What is your best soft skill?

Strategic thinking.

5) What softwares and tools do you use regularly?

Slack, Asana, Google Workspace and Microsoft Sticky Notes.

6) What are your goals for the next year and into the future?

Providing more value through content, growing the agency, and maintaining my fitness level.

7) What has been the hardest thing you dealt with in your career path?

The hardest thing I’ve dealt with in my career has been starting to publish content online. I tend to overthink, which can make creating content challenging. However, planning and writing content ahead has helped a lot.

8) What is the biggest mistake you made that you want others to avoid?

Being held back by imposter syndrome. It kept me from starting the agency sooner.

9) Who are your favorite people in the industry that you follow?

John Moran , Gil Gildner Kirk Williams , Ed Leake , Thomas Eccel , Adriaan Dekker and I also really like the God Tier Ads and PPC Mastery community.

10) Who has had the biggest influence on your career to date?

My girlfriend. In the past, I often struggled with imposter syndrome (and still do sometimes), but she has always pushed me forward and supported me.

11) What has been your favorite course that you taken and why?

I don’t really have a favorite course. I often buy a course or coaching service to help me solve a specific problem ASAP. It gets me to my goal much faster than relying on trial and error alone.

12) What would you tell yourself or someone who is just starting out in marketing?

Learn the fundamentals of marketing and the business dynamics of the industry you want to work in. Then, start specializing to achieve the best possible results for your clients or the company you work for.

13) If the entire world was listening to you, what would you have to say?

Imagine how your ideal day-to-day should look, align your goals toward it, stop comparing yourself to others, and achieve your goals while enjoying the process.

14) Where can we find you?

LinkedIn is currently the only platform I check and am active on.
