Today, we are featuring Team Rare Fish Industries Pte Ltd, one of the shortlisted teams for PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon. Their objective is to create a digital investment platform which integrates traditional assets like ETFs with digital assets, while incorporating gaming elements to vastly improve user experience.
The PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon, organised by PolyFinTech 100, with the support from Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and corporate partners provides students with support through workshops and coaching by industry mentors from organisations sponsoring the hackathon.
About the Project
There is a popular saying, “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish, feed him for life.” Our solution is called FishBowl, and we are the first digital investment platform that integrates traditional assets like ETFs with digital assets, while incorporating gaming elements to vastly improve user experience.
1.??Why did your team decide to take part in the PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon?
As highly inquisitive and passionate individuals, our team was formed as part of our Digital Banking module. We were interested in the problem statement for Gamified Finance and decided to go for it despite knowing that it would be challenging for us.
2.??What are the key learnings and takeaways the team had gained from this hackathon experience?
As a team, we realised that many of us had different ideas and directions that we wanted this project to go. However, we soon realised that we were able to combine the best ideas into our final idea, ‘FishBowl’.
3.??What advice would you give to other students to encourage them to take part in the hackathon?
Just do it. There will be setbacks and challenges along the way but as a team, persist and work together. After all, failure is the mother of success and you’ll most definitely succeed if only you take the first step to try.
About the PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon
The PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon is an inter-poly competition designed to nurture FinTech talent to meet the rapidly changing needs of the financial services sector. Student teams develop FinTech prototypes using Open APIs from the industry to address real-world challenge statements in financial services.
