Interview with Team Indecisive

Today, we are featuring Team Indecisive, one of the shortlisted teams for PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon. Their objective is to help Prudential to translate their high user subscriptions to improving their overall health.

The PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon, organised by PolyFinTech 100, with the support from Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and corporate partners provides students with support through workshops and coaching by industry mentors from organisations sponsoring the hackathon.

About the Project

We wanted to come up with solutions for Prudential to have higher user subscriptions while helping our subscribers improve their health. With that, our key solution is to encourage users to sign up for festive fitness challenges and offer them rewards, when they successfully complete it. We believe this will help users to commemorate the current event whilst enjoying and staying active.

1.??Why did your team decide to take part in the PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon?

We joined this competition as it was part of one of our modules. After joining the event and attending talks by the organizers and industry partners, we felt that this competition would be a great chance to gain experiences and explore the FinTech industry. We wanted to challenge ourselves through coming up with new ideas to tackle the user needs statement while keeping the companies' values and priorities. Hence we thought that this would be a great place for us to stretch our thinking while showcasing our creativity and ideation skills as a team.

2.??What are the key learnings and takeaways the team had gained from this hackathon experience?

This hackathon was a chance to do various research and surveys. Through the research and surveys, we were able to understand the behaviors of our target consumers, mainly the Generation Z. We feel that this experience would be valuable for us as it not only helps us gain insights into the industry, but also develop skills like research and pitching skills.

3.??What advice would you give to other students to encourage them to take part in the hackathon?

This competition allows you to expand your horizons about the FinTech industry. You will get to dig deeper and understand more about the customers, company and its competitors. It also allows you to put your creative thoughts into action, making it a complete solution with a chance of it being incorporated in the industry. Not only will you get valuable experiences but you stand a chance in winning prizes!

About the PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon

The PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon is an inter-poly competition designed to nurture FinTech talent to meet the rapidly changing needs of the financial services sector.
