Interview with our own CEO, Glory LeDu!

Interview with our own CEO, Glory LeDu!

Tell us a little about yourself, and how long you’ve been with League Infosight?

I’ve been working with League InfoSight for 9 years now (wow, where does the time go?)! I was named as Interim CEO six years ago, this month!

How did you end up in the CU world? Can you tell us about your journey to become CEO of LIS?

I had been living in New York for 12 years, but after having my two boys, I wanted to head back towards family in Michigan. Having worked in Compliance and Legal on the Broker Dealer and Investment Banking side, I started looking for jobs in the compliance field in Michigan. Low and behold, I found a Compliance Officer opportunity at a credit union! They took a huge chance on me! That was 13 years ago! It was an amazing opportunity to work in a credit union and understand directly how regulations were operationally implemented! (By the way, InfoSight and CU PolicyPro were instrumental for me in learning and understanding the different laws and regulations and how they impact credit unions). From the credit union, I moved to the Michigan Credit Union League in Legislative and Regulatory Affairs where I could help more credit unions navigate the environment and advocate for change. From that role, I transitioned to a different role within the League to assist and manage the League InfoSight products, which was an opportunity I jumped on!

What are the most important attributes of successful leadership?

This is hard! I suppose for me, it’s most important to listen, engage, and inspire the people around me so they can see, feel, and share in the joy and passion of making an impact! It’s critical to have the team involved in all aspects of the organization; generating ideas (their ideas are always better), improving processes, and helping to make decisions! Collectively, we all engage with credit unions and Leagues/Associations in a different way, understanding that and leveraging their expertise makes us stronger! A successful leader makes sure their team knows how critical they are not only to the organization, but to you.

Who do you look to for inspiration and/or mentorship? How do you continue to grow and develop as a leader?

This list would be ten miles long! As for growth and development, this happens on a daily basis because I work with some amazing people. I have so much to learn, and my goal is to absorb as much as I can from everyone around me!

What are some of the biggest challenges that the CU world is facing right now?

From a regulatory perspective, we are getting guidance/expectations in a much different way than we had in the past. In prior years, the industry would typically get some type of amendment to a final rule, there was associated commentary, and the appendices would provide us some clarity for out of the ordinary situations. We could typically interpret and apply that guidance in a way that made sense. Now, we are getting opinions, guidance, and interpretations on how the existing regulatory framework still meets and applies to more complex products, services, and processes. Regulations aren’t keeping pace and that makes it difficult for credit unions to understand and comply as their products and services evolve.

How are you/we (League Infosight), working to overcome those challenges? What are some of the goals that you have for LIS?

League InfoSight is working to stay on top of the different communications coming out of regulatory agencies so we can keep our information, policies, and resources valuable and up to date for our partners and credit unions. Because of the amount of information, guidance, and opinions, we are also constantly working to evolve our technology and content to present the most critical resources to our credit unions in the most efficient ways.

What is one thing that makes you most proud as the CEO of League InfoSight?

Only one thing? Probably when I hear (or one of the team members hears) from a credit union who is so appreciative of one of our resources! It’s saved them time, it’s improved a process, it’s helped protect them, whatever the feedback, it makes me so proud of our team, our partners, and what we do as an organization to collaborate with the best of the best to make a difference!

Really enjoyed the interview. Congrats on 20 years!
