Interview with a New Business Sales Googler
As a recruiter at Google's Dublin office in Ireland, I wanted to share more about what life is like at Google Ireland by speaking to some of my colleagues here. Today, hear from Louise about her experience working for our Google Customer Solutions new business sales team for the UK/I market as an Account Executive.
Louise, could you tell me about your role and what made you decide to join Google?
I currently work as an Account Executive on Google's New Business Sales team, focusing on the UK/I market. In this role, I have the exciting opportunity to engage with new businesses and help them leverage Google's solutions to achieve their growth objectives. What particularly drew me to this role was the dynamic nature of sales and the chance to have meaningful conversations with businesses from various industries every day.
My journey to this role started when I was looking to make a shift from marketing to sales. I was actively exploring opportunities on LinkedIn when I came across this position at Google. The role seemed like the perfect fit for my desire to transition into sales while also allowing me to work for a company that I had long admired. Google's commitment to innovation, its global reach, and the chance to be part of a team that helps businesses succeed through digital solutions were all compelling reasons for me to pursue this opportunity.
The transition has been a rewarding experience, and I've had the privilege of working with diverse clients and contributing to their growth strategies. Google's supportive environment, emphasis on personal development, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on businesses were key factors that solidified my decision to join this incredible team.
What do you love about your role and what exciting projects/moments have you been involved in?
I love that I speak to so many different people every day, and that I get to be part of the growth of all kinds of amazing companies. One day I am speaking to a startup that just received funding, and needs help to scale their commercial growth as soon as possible, the next I am speaking to the CMO of a large traditional company that is about to embark on a digital transformation. This variety makes every day different and exciting!
What was your experience like as a candidate?
My experience as a candidate was very smooth. When joining Google, I applied for the New business Account Executive, for which I had one phone interview and three on-site interviews. My recruiter was very helpful and made sure that I felt prepared for every single interview. My interviewers were mostly people from the team, including my director-to-be, which gave me a better feel of the nice environment I was about to join!
