Interview With a MAGA Supporter

I thought it would be interesting to conduct an imaginary interview with a diehard Trump supporter and his wife and ask them the kind of questions I would ask if this were a real interview. Why? First of all, because it will be fun. Also, the responses given by my make believe interviewees will give readers a good view into my actual take on the phenomenon that is the cult of Trump. Their answers are what I truly believe the most delusional and passionate Trump supporters would say, and have said in numerous interviews I have seen, and from many personal experiences I have had. Lastly, I hope that by conducting this exercise, I will discover more about this issue that is crushing the nation in its deadly grip and maybe even learn something more along the way. Maybe not, but like I said, at least it will be fun!

Interview With a MAGA Supporter

David DeBatto (DD): I am here with Vernon Simpson and his wife Diane at the Trump rally in Sarasota, Florida. Donald Trump has just finished a 2 ? rambling speech which was greeted by raucous shouts of approval and thunderous applause from the 10,000 or so unmasked attendees here. Thank you for speaking with me Mr. Simpson. Can I call you Vern?

Vernon Simpson (VS): I don’t care what you call me.

DD: OK then…. great. Vern, first of all, where are you from?

VS: Valdosta, Georgia. We left real early to get here in time to hear the president speak.

DD: So, it would seem you are strong supporters of the former president then.

Diane Simpson (DS): First, he is the current president. He won. By a lot. So let’s just get that straight. And yes, we love President Trump. He is the best president we’ve ever had.

VS: I know that’ll probably piss you off, but we really don’t care what the fake news thinks about us.

DD: I am not with any news organization.

DS: Same difference.

DD: Well, ok, sure.

DD: What did you like most in the speech today?

VS: I liked it when he said he will never give up the fight, never concede, and that we should all never give up either, just keep on fightin’! He won and he wants us to know that and keep fightin' for him.

DS: The president isn’t impressed by socialists like Biden and Pelosi. He says what he thinks and doesn’t give a shit what the libs think about what he says. He may be a little crude, but that’s ok. I like that. I can trust a man like that.

DD: What else did you like in Mr. Trump’s speech today?

DS: That’s President Trump!

DD: Of course, sorry. President Trump.

VS: I really got a kick outta him sayin’ he was gonna be reinstated in August. And he meant it too! That’s what we came to hear. The socialists don’t believe it’ll happen, but it will, you just wait and see. We’re takin’ back the White House and we’re takin’ back this country!

DS: That’s right. Come August and our president will back where he belongs, in the White House.

DD: You both really believe that?

VS and DS: Absolutely. 100% gonna happen.

DD: And if it doesn’t?

DS: It will.

DD: OK.

DD: Why do you both believe Trump won the election when more than 60 court decisions, including the U.S. Supreme Court with a majority of Trump appointed judges, ruled that there was absolutely no evidence of voter fraud, and that Joe Biden won fair and square?

VS: That’s liberal Bullshit! The radical left got to the judges and paid them off. Everyone knows that.

DD: Even the Republican judges that Trump himself appointed?

DS: Yes, even them. It’s one the biggest crimes in history. I saw an entire special on that last week on TV. They laid out the entire case about voter fraud and payoffs to judges, they showed all the facts, right there. I’m not surprised you don’t know about that. You probably only watch CNN or some other socialist TV, right?

DD: Actually no, but let’s move on. Speaking of TV and news sources, where do you usually get your news?

VS: OAN and?Fox mostly, but Fox’s been goin’ pretty far left recently. I don’t know what happened, but Tucker and Sean are still pretty good. We always watch them.

DS: Yea, I love Tucker!

DD: How would you rate President Biden so far?

DS: He’s not my president! He lost, he’s a fake president. Just wait until August!

VS: Same for me.

DD: I guess you would give Biden low marks then?

VS: He’s a socialist, so I don’t give him no marks! All Biden and the other libs want to do is force their radical, socialist crap down our throats and make some kind of tyrannical government so they can control everything and everyone. It started with lockdowns and quarantines, then that mask bullshit. Now it’s CRT and teaching our children to hate themselves and all white people. Next they’ll wanna come for our guns. Well, let ‘em try!

DS: Yea, let ‘em try to take our guns! Then we’ll show ‘em what real patriots are made of!

DD: Do either of you think America is a racist country?

DS: That's a socialist question, isn't it? A real PC question. Of course we're not racists. America is NOT a racist country and never has been. That's all that CRT bullshit talkin'. Blacks have it better now than ever in history, yet they still want to burn down our cities and shoot people in the street. If we say they should be arrested or shot, you call us racist! Whose the real racist? Me or you? Answer me that?

DD: Great question. Maybe some other time.

DD: Do either of you think there will be a civil war in the near future?

VS: Yes, I honestly do. We don’t want one, but the libs keep push’n us more and more. Whatta they expect? We won’t let them turn America into a socialist sewer of gays and Muslims. We’re a Christian nation and we’ll fight to keep it that way for us and for our children. If that means civil war, so be it. We don’t want one, but we’re ready. Bring it on!

DS: And I’ll be right by his side. Count on it.
