Interview With Lol (PPC Consultant)
Omar Reyes
Freelance Google Ads Specialist | Helping Painting Companies Generate Leads Online
1) Where were you born and raised? Also tell us something unique about yourself.
I'm originally from Northern Ireland, but moved to Gloucestershire in England when I was 7 and have been here ever since. I guess the most unique thing about me, is I always need to have a creative project on the go. Whether it's painting, fabric sculpture, mosaic or my latest thing - willow weaving.
2) What got you interested in marketing and what was your journey?
I sort of fell into marketing. After being made redundant from a software testing job, I did voluntary work for a website that marketed up and coming artists. This give me a foot in the door to my first marketing role as a website assistant for outdoor clothing company.
I really loved the job, and worked my way up pretty quickly. I went freelance after 3 years and 20 years on I'm still freelancing.
3) What skills and industry do you specialize in?
My main focus is Google Ads both for ecommerce and lead gen businesses.
4) What is your best soft skill?
Probably critical thinking - I'm always looking at the bigger picture. Working across all digital channels, and having managed websites in the past gives me greater understanding of how everything interconnects and influences the end results.
5) What softwares and tools do you use regularly?
AdEvolver , Producthero.com , Mike Rhodes ?? Pmax scripts, PPC Mastery & God Tier Ads templates.
6) What are your goals for the next year and into the future?
To increase my CRO knowledge (I'm currently doing the CXL mini degree), learn Google Ads scripting. Both of these are areas that will significantly improve results from anything I do in Google Ads.
7) What has been the hardest thing you dealt with in your career path?
Lockdown in 2020 - I lost all my agency work which at the time was 70% of my income. Thankfully, I was able to replace most of that work within 3 months, but at the time it felt like the end of my career.

8) What is the biggest mistake you made that you want others to avoid?
Having all your eggs in one basket ie. one or two clients that account for most of your income.
9) Who are your favorite people in the industry that you follow?
There's loads of people sharing great content, but these are the ones whose posts I read the most: Mike Rhodes ?? , Miles McNair , Kirk Williams , Ed Leake , Collin Slattery , Elfried Samba , Phill Agnew , Avinash Kaushik , Rand Fishkin .
10) Who has had the biggest influence on your career to date?
Probably Mary Portas OBE - her whole career arc is fascinating. She's straight talking and action oriented which are qualities I appreciate.
11) What has been your favorite course that you taken and why?
PPC Mastery is hands down the best PPC course out there. If you prefer more self paced courses, God Tier Ads is pretty awesome (I use a lot of the templates on a daily basis).
12) What would you tell yourself or someone who is just starting out in marketing?
Connect, connect, connect. No one is your competition, we're all walking the same path so let's help each other along it.
13) If the entire world was listening to you, what would you have to say?
Listen more than you speak, be open minded.
14) Where can we find you?
Attended Mehran grammar school
