What sparked your interest in naval architecture and marine engineering? Share your journey with us!

"During high school, I discovered a genuine passion for diverse subjects, eventually leading me to choose engineering as my career path. After three years of pursuing industrial engineering at university, my fascination with the intricate design of engines led me to switch gears to marine engineering. This decision presented a golden opportunity to delve into the captivating world of ship design. As I embarked on this path, I seized the chance to join the NA course alongside marine engineering, nurturing my passion for design further. Successfully completing both courses, I graduated with degrees in Naval Engineering and Marine Engineering. However, my thirst for knowledge still remained unsatiated, inspiring me to pursue a master's degree in naval and oceanic engineering."


Which specific aspects of the internship project are you most excited about and why?

"The thrill of creating something entirely novel engulfs me as I begin this internship project. The opportunity to design a project of this magnitude from its inception exhilarates me, requiring a fresh perspective devoid of dependence on previous designs. Our task is to craft a unique concept that addresses specific needs previously unmet in the realm of naval engineering. Additionally, what excites me the most is that this internship offers more than just participation; our ideas and decisions hold real significance and impact the outcome of the project."

How do you envision your skills and knowledge contributing to the innovation project at MBM?

"My academic journey has provided me with a wealth of knowledge applicable to various aspects of the innovation project at MBM. However, the project's dynamic nature compels me to develop the skill of adaptability, intertwining different disciplines to address diverse challenges. Embracing this multidisciplinary approach, I aim to contribute my expertise in creating groundbreaking solutions."


Are there any particular challenges or obstacles you anticipate during your internship, and how do you plan to overcome them?

"One foreseeable challenge is meeting the desired outcome within the predefined timeline. As an intern, I am eager to deliver exceptional results, but the sheer scale of this project presents a unique challenge. To overcome it, I will prioritize effective project and time management while leaning on the expertise and guidance of senior colleagues within the company."


What do you hope to achieve or learn during your time at MBM? Any specific goals or aspirations?

"During my tenure at MBM, my foremost aspiration is to evolve into a seasoned naval engineer, gaining hands-on experience in professional projects. Immersing myself in the realms of Naval architecture and design, I yearn to acquire invaluable knowledge beyond the theoretical concepts taught at university."

"Participating in several university projects and engaging in my degree's final thesis – a venture focused on a small autonomous sailboat – have been pivotal in shaping my preparation for this internship. These experiences enlightened me to the intricate interplay between diverse disciplines, emphasizing the significance of a comprehensive viewpoint."


As you work closely with our chief engineer and managing director, M Bambury , what are some valuable insights or lessons you hope to gain from their expertise?

"Working alongside esteemed professionals like M. Bambury is a unique privilege. I aspire to acquire expertise in navigating the complexities of stakeholder interactions during ship design and construction. Moreover, learning from a seasoned engineer will undoubtedly provide invaluable insights into aspects that may not be apparent to fresh graduates."

What excites you most about the naval architecture and marine engineering industry? Any emerging trends or technologies that capture your interest?

"The naval architecture and marine engineering industry still holds immense potential for innovation and improvement. Beyond the realm of shipping, the sea and ocean harbor abundant energy and resources, presenting opportunities for environmentally conscious and sustainable advancements. My profound interest lies in offshore renewable energy, especially floating offshore wind farms, with their multidisciplinary challenges and potential to reshape our energy landscape."


How do you plan to balance teamwork and individual contributions during the internship? Any strategies or approaches you'd like to share?

"Effective communication with colleagues forms the bedrock for balancing teamwork and individual contributions. Open and fluid dialogue fosters the exchange of novel ideas and enables us to present thoughts freely, enriching our solutions through the insights of team members. Periodical meetings become crucial forums for sharing progress and receiving feedback from the entire team."


What advice would you give to other aspiring naval architecture students looking to pursue internships or gain practical experience?

"Approach the field of engineering with an open and passionate mindset, eager to learn and grow. Embrace collaboration with fellow interns, recognizing the value of every human connection. Fearlessly embark on internships, for MBM, understanding the significance of interns, will provide you with an enriching path to comprehend the intricacies of ship design."

"Within the merchant branch of naval engineering, I am profoundly drawn to devising practical solutions that drive innovation. Additionally, my passion extends to the emerging discipline of renewable energy within naval architecture, a captivating avenue to create a more sustainable future."
