An interview with James and Talia

An interview with James and Talia

James and Talia started with us as apprentices in 2022 and have grown with TAP since then. We decided to interview them on their experience with the company and on their apprenticeships. Have a look what they had to say below.

First of all, what's one piece of advice would you go back and tell your younger self?

Keep your head down and study more!

What does an average day look like for you?

I start by reflecting on what needs doing during the week, then we often have internal and/or external meetings throughout the day and progress work in relation to tax computations and due diligence reports.

How would you sum up the TAP team?

Fun, friendly, welcoming, and understanding.

What qualification will you earn upon completing your apprenticeship?

Firstly a CFAB (level 4), and then an ACA (level 7) with ICAEW.

How long does it take to complete your qualification??

It takes around 4-5 years to go from the start of CFAB to the end of advanced level.

In what ways are your studies supported?

I am given time off work to attend in-person lessons held by the apprenticeship provider. In addition, I am given plenty of study days in which to revise the content covered in the lessons and to attempt practice questions and mock exams. We also have access to a wealth of knowledge from our colleagues, including newly qualified accountants who have sat the exams themselves and can offer advice.

What happens after you earn the CFAB?

After earning the CFAB, you must complete the End Point Assessment in order to advance to professional level studies. This mainly involves completing a portfolio, outlining your personal development of skills and behaviours over the year, and an exam that covers all six CFAB topics.
