INTERVIEW IN A FRENCH RADIO: ARCHEOLOGY AND ITS ROLE IN SOCIETY

The french radio RFI took advantage of the XVIII UISPP World Congress, which takes place this week in Paris, to develop a special theme within its weekly program "Autour de la Question": How to trace the prehistory of the world.

I was invited and participated in this program, along with:

  • Abdoulaye Camara (University of Dakar, Senegal. Associate professor at Senghor University in Alexandria. Was curator of the Historical Museum of Goree, and the Dakar Museum of African Art).
  • Siméon Kouakou Kouassi (Lecturer at the Institute of Anthropological Sciences of the University Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Cocody, Abidjan, Ivory Coast).
  • Luiz Oosterbeek (Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, Portugal. Investigator of the Quaternary and Human adaptations cluster of Geosciences Centre of Coimbra University. Secretary-General of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences. Outgoing SG of UISPP. UNESCO chair holder “Humanities and Cultural Integrated Landscape management”.

The program was live, with an hour of duration. We talk about the UISPP Congress and its themes, about the role of Archeology in the integration of societies and their knowledge, and on the progress of research results in Africa.

These initiatives are part of the ongoing dialogue with society. Check the interview, in its entirety, through the link:
