PRAE Natthita (Prae) Wettayavetin (MBA, UCLA class of 2018)

Current position: Director of Strategy and Corporate Development

Internship position: Business Development Intern at Wongnai in 2017

"Pursuing an MBA has always been a part of my career plan since my undergraduate studies, but I wanted to first acquire practical experience and skills before enrolling. After gaining four years of working experience, I pursued my MBA at UCLA.

When I returned to Thailand during the summer break, I saw a post from P’ Yod Chinsupakul - the CEO, seeking MBA interns (He is a UCLA alumnus) and decided to apply. I was offered an internship opportunity at Wongnai, even before the company had a Master's Degree Internship program. It was my first time working closely with the CEO of the company. He taught me how things should be done and how to fix things if they went wrong. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the business and the way the CEO operated.

Upon completing my MBA, I co-founded a startup with a group of friends. After a year, we faced challenges in expanding the business. While exploring new opportunities, I received an offer from P’yod to return as a full-time employee. This experience has taught me the importance of building and maintaining relationships, as we cannot predict who may hold a pivotal role in our lives at any given time. As such, it is crucial to approach everyone with kindness and establish trust.

Despite working with executives, mutual respect is always maintained among us. We #RespectEveryone . Mistakes are viewed as opportunities for growth, and feedback is provided on the work rather than on the individual. By adopting a continuous learning approach similar to that of a machine learning algorithm, we can become like human AI, gaining a deeper understanding of the people we work with and their needs, thereby facilitating effective collaboration."

AUM Chatbordin Poompichet , Business Development Intern - Corporate Partnerships (MBA, UCLA class of 2023)

"Prior to enrolling in an MBA program, I gained five years of experience as a consultant at a leading Big 4 firm. The success story of LINE MAN Wongnai, a unicorn company led by a fellow alumnus of my university, piqued my interest in interning here. This experience inspired me to believe that I too have the potential to become an entrepreneur and own a national-level business.

I worked with the Corporate Partnerships team at LINE MAN Wongnai, overseeing collaborations with banks, credit card companies, mobile network operators, and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) businesses that are essential to daily life. My primary goal was to identify mutually beneficial ways for LINE MAN and our partners to collaborate.

During my internship at LINE MAN Wongnai, I was given the freedom to voice my opinions, use data to make informed decisions, and overcome challenges despite my lack of prior experience in the field. Despite the challenges of working within the frameworks and limitations of e-commerce marketing, my internship experience at LINE MAN Wongnai allowed me to fully utilize my potential and rapidly acquire new skills. The fast-paced nature of the business demanded quick learning, but the expertise and willingness to help from knowledgeable colleagues enabled me to succeed. I benefited greatly from the supportive team, who were always willing to lend their expertise and guide me throughout my internship."

CAROLINE Caroline Meng , Business Development Intern - Financial Products (MSc, Imperial College Business School class of 2022)

"I recently graduated with a bachelor's degree and am currently pursuing a master's degree. Throughout my studies, I have gained diverse internship experience in areas such as marketing, e-commerce, wealth management, and product development, both in Thailand and abroad.

I'm interested in pursuing a career in tech e-commerce, which is why I reached out to LINE MAN Wongnai on LinkedIn to learn more about the company. I'm looking for an internship that offers opportunities for growth and allows me to learn about strategies in a diverse ecosystem.

I was fortunate to join a newly-formed Financial Products team. I developed a buy now pay later service for riders that eliminated the need for a credit card or large down payment. With only four members, our team encouraged close collaboration among ourselves and with C-level executives

What I appreciate about LINE MAN Wongnai is the flat organizational culture, where I had the chance to have lunch with the CEO, other executives, and the overall down-to-earth atmosphere. This internship has allowed me to take ownership of projects from the beginning and learn about the vast LINE MAN Wongnai ecosystem."

Our 3 interns spilled the tea that the Master's Degree Internship program is the real deal at LINE MAN Wongnai! They get to work on major projects that are a game-changer in driving the company's growth. And guess what? Everyone at LINE MAN Wongnai is a crucial player in pushing the business to level up!
