INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE MulticoreWare - My Journey Through Campus Hiring for 2025 Batch

11th July 2024 – The Registration Process

I received an email about MulticoreWare's 2025 Campus Hiring. The eligibility criteria was 80% or above in X, XII, and UG with a CGPA of 8.5 or more. We had 2 positions to choose - Software Engineer (7.2 LPA) and Research Engineer(10.2 LPA) , I immediately filled out the registration form and opted Research Engineer.

12th July 2024 – Eligible Candidates Announced

A day later, the list of eligible candidates was released, and to my excitement, I was one of the 80 candidates shortlisted for the first round!


15th July 2024 – The First Set of Tests

The day kicked off with a Pre-Placement Talk from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The professionals connected through Zoom and discussed the job roles, the selection process, and the expectations. This set the tone for the day, which was packed with tests.

From 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM, we had the Objective Test. Honestly, this was one of the most complicated assessments I’d taken. The questions were challenging, spanning OS, DBMS, pseudocode (mostly in Python and C++), programming theory, and a few aptitude problems related to ages, profit and loss, permutation, and combination. Despite the complexity, I managed to clear this round, and at exactly 2:55 PM, I got the message that I had advanced to the next stage.

From 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, we had the Subjective Test, which was focused on coding. We were given two problems: one to merge elements from two arrays in a zigzag manner, and another to count the occurrences of a specified element in an array. I managed to pass most test cases and felt confident moving forward.

At 5:50 PM, I received the test link for the next round—this time, it was the Complex Subjective Test for Research Engineers. This test, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, featured a single, extremely complicated question. Unfortunately, I couldn’t crack it, but I was still eligible for the Software Engineer position, which was a relief!

17th July 2024 – The Call for Technical and HR Interviews

After clearing the previous rounds, I received an email about the next step: Technical & HR Interviews scheduled for 18th July 2024 at Panimalar Engineering College.


18th July 2024 – The Technical interviews Begin

The day had finally arrived, and my nerves were running high. It was my first-ever real-time interview, which added to the excitement and nervousness.

In the first technical interview, I was assigned to a panel with a interviewer who was polite and made me feel comfortable. The interview began with an introduction, followed by questions about my projects, resume, and the programming languages I knew. She asked questions on C programming, including pointers, referencing and dereferencing, basic data structures, arrays, the difference between stacks and queues, searching algorithms, sorting techniques, and even machine learning algorithms. I was also given two code snippets to analyze the output and a problem that required me to remove a specified element from an array and return the modified array. Another question involved implementing an array-based stack.

To my surprise and delight, I was selected for the second technical interview, receiving positive feedback from the first round.

The second technical interview took place with a interviewer who asked me to bring my laptop for on-the-spot coding. He began by asking me for an introduction, followed by an in-depth discussion about my projects. Then came the technical questions: why I preferred Java, OOP concepts, inheritance, and implementing both overloading and overriding. He presented me with a scenario about developing an application for the Olympics, where participants and countries would be linked, and asked me how I would implement it. He also gave me a pattern-related problem, asking me to provide the logic and code for it:

Although I cracked the logic, I struggled with the coding part. Despite giving my best, I couldn’t clear this round, which meant I didn’t qualify for the HR interview.


Reflection and Lessons Learned

This journey with MulticoreWare taught me a lot. Although I didn’t make it through the final round, the experience was invaluable. I realized that I needed to sharpen my coding skills, especially in data structures and machine learning. Every step of the process gave me insights into my strengths and areas of improvement, and I’m excited to work on them.

Though I didn’t get the final offer, the experience itself was a victory in many ways. It pushed me to be better and reinforced my determination to succeed in the next opportunity that comes my way.
