Interview experience?-?Microsoft IGD

I had filled a form for the GHCI career fair (only for women in Tech). After the fair, I got an email from Microsoft to fill a form to know my interest in exploring career opportunities with them.

A month later, I got an invite to appear for an online test.

I had three days to give the online test. The test had the following pattern:

  • 41 MCQs (Cognitive and Technical)
  •  2 coding questions, one was on Dynamic programming and the second was on the Application of graph theory. The difficulty level was medium-hard.
  •  1 essay writing question.

After a week, I got an email mentioning that I had cleared the online test and selected for the next round that was a virtual Face to Face round. I was nervous as well as happy.

The interview lasted about an hour. I had one coding question on the modified merge sort and later the interviewer slowly increased the complexity of the question. Other questions included computer science fundamentals such as Operating System, Database Management System, and Object-Oriented Programming. Resume based questions were also asked.

Within a couple of weeks, I was invited for a Face to Face Interview at Microsoft Campus, Hyderabad. I was so excited to visit the campus and was even more determined to clear the interview.

Every part of the campus was really beautiful. The entire recruiting team did a great job to host us at their campus. There I met a few other girls (around 20) who came to give the interview. That day I was confident. I went on to give the interview which was of45 minutes. The interviewer was calm and made me feel relaxed. He asked me questions about my projects and drilled deep into them. Other questions were on cloud computing and on data structures and algorithms. I was also asked about the leadership qualities that I had, how I helped the community, how I handle a situation, and about the tools, I use to build and manage a project. It was a mixture of Technical (majorly), software development processes, and soft skills.

I was qualified for the next round. In this round, mostly behavioral questions related to the culture, mission, and values of Microsoft were asked. I was also asked a lot of scenario-based questions, my strengths and how am I different from others. I wasn’t prepared for this round in advance so I said whatever I felt like at that moment.

And the result was I got selected!!!

I was filled with joy and was super excited to join Microsoft.

I couldn’t have been happier than this.

I hope this would benefit a lot of people for their interview process at Microsoft IGD for the role of Consultant, Project Manager, and Customer Success Engineers.

Thank you!!!
