In this episode, we are going to look at interview etiquette that are to be followed before, during and after an interview.
Rehearse and prepare well
There are several questions that you are guaranteed to be asked during an interview. We discussed some of the questions with sample answers in this episode. So, be prepared with with insightful answers for these questions, also be familiar with other interview questions typically asked in your field. Practice looking in the mirror and answering your questions out loud. This preparation will make you more comfortable and confident during the interview.
Do your research
Review the company's website and know about its key players. Find out who you'll be interviewing with and learn something about them. The knowledge you gain will, in turn, increase your comfort level and confidence during the interview.
Brush up on body language
Interviewers pay attention to non-verbal cues and observe your body language throughout the interview. So, beware of what you are communicating through your posture and stance. For example, sitting with your arms and legs crossed sends a message that you feel defensive and lack self-confidence. Always sit straight, greet the interviewer with a firm handshake and maintain your professional behaviour till the end.
Dress the part
A job interview calls for you to wear a professional attire. Some companies do have a prescribed dress code for the interview. So, make sure you read any particular guideline for the interview dress code if any.

Smile
A job interview is indeed a high-pressure situation, but looking nervous will make you appear less confident. So, smiling naturally will depict that you friendly and approachable.
Ask questions
The job interview is an opportunity for you to sell yourself to the company, but also happens to be the chance for you to know more about the company and the work culture and whether the position and the environment are a good fit for you. Ask few questions such as the type of work the position necessitates, the corporate culture, etc. Don't hesitate or be scared to ask questions because that may imply that you are uninterested.
Send a proper thank you
Express your thanks for the interviewer's time and for the chance to learn more about the company. Briefly reinforce why you're interested in the job and why you'd be a good fit.
These are some of the points to be kept in mind before, during and after an interview. In the next episode, let's understand the importance of SWOT analysis which was introduced in this episode.
See you in the next one.
Wish you a great success !
