Interview With Dii (Google Ads Expert)
1) Where were you born and raised? Also tell us something unique about yourself.
I was born and raised in the vibrant Bay Area, where the pulse of hip hop culture runs deep. Despite my love for the swag of this scene, I discovered a surprising passion for opera. This led me to attend over seven operas, including an unforgettable Mozart tribute in Austria.
2) What got you interested in marketing and what was your journey?
After college, I started as an Account Executive at Indeed.com, where I sold sponsored job ads running on a PPC model inspired by Google Ads. This sparked my curiosity, leading me to research and master the platform. After 100s of hours in courses & certifications, I eventually started running ads for myself and other local businesses. My freelance success paved the way for agency work, where I shaped my PPC skills further.
At my first agency, I was a generalist marketer in the automotive industry, managing a diverse book of business. I handled everything from PPC, SEO, copywriting, email marketing, direct mailers, sales training, and more. It was here that I discovered my passion and talent for Google Ads. And while I'm passionate about Google, I understood need to hone my skills in other PPC platforms, so I expanded my expertise to platforms like Bing, Meta, and LinkedIn Ads.
My career has spanned agency life, in-house roles, and freelance projects, each experience deepening my passion for helping others and teaching. Now, I offer business consulting and mentor junior marketers, helping them elevate their careers and achieve their goals.
3) What skills and industry do you specialize in?
I specialize in Google Ads with an emphasis in lead generation & scripts.
4) What is your best soft skill?
Graphic Designing.
5) What softwares and tools do you use regularly?

6) What are your goals for the next year and into the future?
I hoping to become a thought-leader in my field & contribute to the Google Ads landscape.
7) What has been the hardest thing you dealt with in your career path?
Navigating the ever-changing landscape of PPC is a constant challenge. With new products, methods, and add-ons emerging regularly, it can be difficult to balance the demands of work, personal life, and staying updated with industry trends.

8) What is the biggest mistake you made that you want others to avoid?
Not starting sooner because I assumed I needed to have everything "figured out". It's okay to try & fail.- and when you do fail, fail forward.
9) Who are your favorite people in the industry that you follow?
10) Who has had the biggest influence on your career to date?
Nik Avendano, a digital marketing business consultant, has been instrumental in strategizing my career at a higher level. I shared my career aspirations and vision with him, and as a big-picture thinker, he reverse-engineered a step-by-step strategy to help me achieve my long-term goals. His guidance has been invaluable, and I highly recommend him to any digital marketing business seeking to level up.
11) What has been your favorite course that you taken and why?
In Demand Career with Seth Hymes.
12) What would you tell yourself or someone who is just starting out in marketing?
Avoid roles where you spend most of your time talking to clients and acting as a glorified Digital Marketing Customer Service Rep. Seek opportunities and mentors that provide true hands-on experience in accounts.
Collaborate with those who encourage your strategic thinking and value your fresh perspective. Stay consistent, stay hungry.
13) If the entire world was listening to you, what would you have to say?
If you really want to you'll find a way, if not - you'll find an excuse.
