Interview With Conor (Paid Media Analyst)

1) Where were you born and raised? Also tell us something unique about yourself.

I was born and raised in Leeds U.K (the best city in the world) and something unique about me is that I was once a hand model for the Transpennine Express (a British train company).

2) What got you interested in marketing and what was your journey?

Back when I was 16, I started a small clothing company called CNFSSN because I saw the vocalists from my favourite bands doing the same. The majority of my sales were ecommerce which required consistent marketing on social media platforms. This was my first introduction into digital marketing. Through the ages of 18-26 I worked in fashion retail which all came to an end during the dreaded COVID era, I saw this as an opportunity to change into something new.

Digital marketing was always something I thought I was good at so I decided to enrol in an apprenticeship, I passed with a distinction, fast forward 2 years and I now work at Ascensor! One of the biggest digital agencies in my city.

3) What skills and industry do you specialize in?

I specialise in PCC B2B lead generation.

4) What is your best soft skill?

I think I'm really funny.

5) What softwares and tools do you use regularly?

At the moment, I am obsessed with chat GPT, at first, I was sceptical about AI but lets face it, it isn't going anywhere. We might as well adapt and use it our advantage, if we don't, someone else will.

6) What are your goals for the next year and into the future?

I really want to grow with Ascensor, the business I work for at the moment. They are very client driven and a great team to work with. In the future I would love to get into music marketing.

7) What has been the hardest thing you dealt with in your career path?

Having an apprenticeship wage.

8) What is the biggest mistake you made that you want others to avoid?

I wouldn't want them to avoid them, I want them to make them and learn from it. It's a part of getting better. cough don't be too optimistic with conversion rates in your forecasts cough.

9) Who are your favorite people in the industry that you follow?

??? Yoann Ferrand - he is a PPC God and his weekly newsletter is always very informative.

10) Who has had the biggest influence on your career to date?

To be honest, I don't think I have been influenced by anyone within marketing. It's quite a strong thing to claim if someone has influenced you in my opinion and I am still yet to find that person.

11) What has been your favorite course that you taken and why?

I enjoyed my apprenticeship, level 3 digital marketer. To keep it real, it didn't teach me much I didn't already know but I had fun and it is an excellent way to get my 'foot in the door' within the industry.

12) What would you tell yourself or someone who is just starting out in marketing?

Move with intention, make sure you know why you are doing something (clients WILL ask). Also, learn what all the acronyms are, there is a lot.

13) If the entire world was listening to you, what would you have to say?

Follow me on Instagram @csilver.x

14) Where can we find you?

LinkedIn if you're talking business!

I make music under C Silver if you're talking music :)
