CHATGPT launched on November 30, 2022, galvanizing the era of AI.
Using CHATGPT feels like you are in a sci-fi movie. ChatGPT is a conversational AI tool aka chatbot. The quality of questions you feed is important.
I like that CHATGPT is language driven. I like that it is conversation-driven.
The chatbot provides answers, writes articles, summarizes, collates research, and writes code.
ChatGPT is not sentient.
ChatGPT Is not AGI, but AI. ChatGPT is a machine that can look quickly at our data.
ChatGPT also has an API companion for developers.
It is important to note that it is early stages. Sam Altman and OpenAI released ChatGPT to open up the conversation for communities to shape what AI becomes.
Yes, ChatGPT is in its wonky stage. Concerns about accreditation, misuse, and misinformation are there, but the positives for human innovation and problem-solving outway the negatives. How can AI help with the climate emergency? How can AI help with spreading knowledge that will help people and planet? How can we embed good ethics at this early stage? How can AI be inclusive?
It's a historic moment in computing. Here is my first interview with CHATGPT.
Sharifa: What are you, ChatGPT?
I am a conversational AI language model known as ChatGPT, or simply GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) for short. I am a type of deep learning model that has been pre-trained on a large corpus of text data, which allows me to understand and generate natural language responses to a wide range of questions and prompts.
My underlying technology was developed by OpenAI, a research organization focused on advancing artificial intelligence in a safe and beneficial way. I was created using state-of-the-art techniques in natural language processing and machine learning, which enable me to generate human-like responses to text-based input.
My primary function is to communicate with users in natural language, answer questions, provide information, and assist with various tasks. I am available through various platforms and interfaces, such as chatbots, messaging apps, and voice assistants.
Sharifa: Where do you get the information?
ChatGPT: I am a language model that has been trained on a large corpus of text data from a variety of sources, including books, articles, websites, and other documents. My training data comes from a wide range of fields and disciplines, which allows me to have knowledge on a vast array of topics.
When you ask me a question, I analyze the language used in your question and compare it to the patterns and structures of language in my training data to generate a response. My responses are based on the patterns and relationships I have learned from this training data, and I do my best to provide accurate and helpful information in my answers. However, please note that my responses are generated based on statistical patterns in the data, and may not always be completely accurate or up-to-date.
Sharifa: Explain ChatGPT and API
ChatGPT: ChatGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of generating text based on a given prompt. It was trained on a large corpus of text data and uses deep learning techniques to understand the patterns and relationships between words, sentences, and paragraphs.
An API, or Application Programming Interface, is a way for software programs to interact with each other. In the case of ChatGPT, the OpenAI API allows developers to access the model and generate text through a simple interface. With the API, you can provide a writing prompt and receive generated text in response, which can then be used in your own applications or projects.
By using the OpenAI API, you can take advantage of the powerful language generation capabilities of ChatGPT without having to develop and train your own model. This makes it easier for writers, researchers, and developers to incorporate advanced language generation into their work.
Sharifa: Can you simplify the explanation?
CHATGPT: Sure! ChatGPT is a computer program developed by OpenAI that can write texts based on a prompt you give it. The OpenAI API is a tool that lets you access ChatGPT and use it to generate text without having to do any programming. This makes it easier for people to use ChatGPT in their projects, like writing articles or creating chatbots.
Sharifa: Why is the interface simpler in ChatGPT and more complicated OpenAI API
领英推荐
CHATGPT: The interface of ChatGPT is generally considered simpler because it can be used through an interactive chat-based interface, where you can type in a prompt and receive generated text in response. This is a more straightforward and user-friendly way of using the model, especially for people who are new to artificial intelligence and machine learning.
On the other hand, the OpenAI API is more complicated because it requires some level of technical expertise to use. You need to have a good understanding of how APIs work, as well as some programming skills to make API requests and receive the generated text. Additionally, you may need to know how to parse and process the generated text, which can be a complex task.
So, while the OpenAI API offers more control and customization options for advanced users, it also requires more technical know-how. The chat-based interface of ChatGPT is designed to be simpler and more accessible for users who are looking for a quick and easy way to generate text.
Sharifa: Who is the intended customer for ChatGPT and for OpenAI API
ChatGPT: ChatGPT is intended for a wide range of customers, including:
On the other hand, the OpenAI API is intended for:
In general, both ChatGPT and the OpenAI API are designed to make advanced language generation technology accessible and usable for a wide range of customers, including individuals, small businesses, and large enterprises.
Sharifa: What questions or prompts are possible in ChatGPT?
ChatGPT: ChatGPT can be used to generate text for a wide range of questions and prompts. Here are a few examples:
These are just a few examples of the types of prompts that ChatGPT can be used for. The model is highly flexible and can generate text for a wide range of questions and prompts. The key is to provide clear and concise prompts that allow ChatGPT to understand what you're looking for.
Sharifa: How does ChatGPT know how to answer a question or request?
ChatGPT: ChatGPT uses a combination of deep learning techniques and large amounts of training data to understand how to answer questions and respond to requests.
At a high level, the model uses a process called transfer learning to build its understanding of language. Transfer learning is a technique that allows a model trained on one task to be fine-tuned for a different task. In the case of ChatGPT, the model was first trained on a large corpus of text data, which allowed it to learn the patterns and relationships between words, sentences, and paragraphs.
When you provide a prompt to ChatGPT, the model uses this pre-existing understanding of language to generate text that is relevant to the prompt. For example, if you ask a question, ChatGPT will use its understanding of language to generate an answer that is relevant to the question.
To generate text, ChatGPT uses a process called autoregression. This means that the model generates each word in a generated text one at a time, based on the words that came before it. The model uses its understanding of language patterns to choose the most likely next word, given the context of the previous words.
Overall, ChatGPT's ability to generate text in response to prompts is based on its deep learning-based understanding of language, combined with its ability to generate text one word at a time, based on the context of the previous words.
