Interview with Baptiste Quidet, CEO at Verto Commodities
Please tell us about your journey that led you to become an entrepreneur?
Embarking on the entrepreneurial journey was a natural progression for me. Over the years, I accumulated diverse experiences in the commodity industry: Trading, Operations, Risk, Sales, Data science and identified opportunities for transformative change. Witnessing the impact technology could have, I felt compelled to create something meaningful. This led to the birth of Verto, driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to making a positive impact in an industry that holds immense promise but demands progress.
Can you share with us what your company does and what is your unique selling point?
Verto is a groundbreaking venture in the way we trade commodity around the global. We specialize in creating a new ecosystem leveraging cutting-edge technologies like blockchain for enhanced traceability and transparency. Our unique selling point lies in the transparence of products’ life cycles and their exchanges between market participants. So everyone has access to information regarding product quantity, qualities, flows, dates of the logistic events.

What are some of?the?milestones that you envision for your company this year?
This year holds exciting prospects for Verto and it is all about credibility. We aim to achieve significant milestones, with a primary focus on expanding our customer portfolio and delivering a robust system that enhances their operational efficiency.
As secondary goals, we plan to launch new features/products for our traceability solution (Such as carbon emission calculator, improve deforestation tool etc) and analytics tools on commodity flows. We also look for strategic partnerships (Certification companies, Commodity products associations).
These milestones are in harmony with our vision of establishing a new benchmark for identifying and resolving challenges within supply chains.
Can you share a message for other entrepreneurs that would like to do?the?same as you?
To fellow entrepreneurs aspiring to embark on a similar journey, I'd say: "In the face of uncertainties, you might lose hope in the short term but after sometimes you will find a solution to your problems. It is normal not to have all the answers, just accept that fact.” Another advice is to “take your distance from people who make big promises but don’t deliver. Always stick to the results you see and be happy about the little progress you make along the way."
