Interview with The Axel Group's Recruiter: Joseph Debonis

Welcome back to #MeetTheTeamMonday! Check out my interview below with The Axel Group's Recruiter, Joe Debonis.

What are your areas of expertise and what does your position entail?

As a recruiter, my job is to find quality candidates within the Architecture, Engineering, Environmental and Construction industries and place them with clients that can improve their current situation for a better work life balance.

What school did you attend/what degree did you receive?

I attended Ocean County College and received an Associates degree in Business while also receiving a Real Estate License that I still use today.

What do you like most about working at The Axel Group?

The atmosphere and the people who work here! I am always surrounded by hard working individuals who also know how to have a good time. It has been very easy to create new friends at The Axel Group while still learning to better myself and my career.

Tell me about your family, hobbies and interests.

I am a very family/friend-oriented person and consider myself lucky to be surrounded by those who are within my circle. If I am not working out, you can find me hiking, traveling to new places or out on the weekends with the same group of goofballs I've been hanging out with since elementary school.

If you could go anywhere in the world and expense wasn't an issue, where would you go and why?

I would love to go to Dubai. It seems like such a beautiful place that is full of new and innovative ways to explore and be active. It also seems like everyone there just drives around in super cars which is pretty cool.

What was the first concert you went to? The best concert?

The first concert I went to was Sublime with Rome at PNC, but the best concert is between two. I saw Dead and Company with John Mayer at a two day experience in Boulder, CO, it was amazing. My other top concert was a few years back, Kenny Chesney at MetLife Stadium and although I am not a huge country fan it was still a blast of a time!

What is your favorite season and why?

I enjoy all seasons equally and would never want to give them up. Each comes with their own perks and a change of scenery.

What is something interesting not many people know about you?

I am a big movie buff, especially when it comes to things like Marvel or Star Wars.

What is your biggest inspiration?

I must go with the Rocky movies. Ever since I was little, I always looked to those movies for that spark and motivation in my life. Even something as simple as listening to the theme song before a workout can really get you going and ready to take on the next challenge. I also do my best to live by the famous quote, "It ain't about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee. Period.

Favorite food and least favorite food?

My favorite food would either be wings or sushi. I can honestly say there are no foods that I know of that I dislike, I'm basically a human garbage disposal and will eat pretty much anything.

Would you ever go sky diving? When/Why?

I went sky diving in California on a dare to freak my mom out. It was by far the most adrenalizing yet blissful moment of my life. The views were incredible and I would go again in a heartbeat.
