Interview with The Axel Group's Recruiter: Doug Hamann

Welcome back to #MeetTheTeamMonday! Check out my interview below with The Axel Group's Recruiter, Doug Hamann.

What are your areas of expertise and what does your position entail??

My position entails me to play a “match maker” type role between clients and potential candidates. My area of expertise is connecting with candidates to understand what is both driving them to seek new opportunities, as well as what opportunities align with their career goals. Every candidate has a unique set of motives and goals when searching for new opportunities and taking the time to identify these allows me to help them take that next step in their careers!?

?What school did you attend/what degree did you receive??

I graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Degree in Psychology. Following graduation, I was offered the opportunity to be a Graduate Assistant at Centenary University the following year where I coached DIII wrestling and got my Masters in Business Administration.?

?What do you like most about working at The Axel Group??

I love the team. I have worked at a few places that preached “team” and “family”, but I never felt that. Here, we truly are that. We are all friends during work hours, and outside of work. The culture and comradery here is second to none!?

Tell me about your family, hobbies, and interests.?

I grew up in a big family of seven kids. My brothers and I grew up wrestling together, continued to compete throughout college, and I still coach today!??

Outside of wrestling, I love outdoor activities and I am not really one to stay still. My favorite hobby would have to be disc golf! I regularly play with my friends and compete in local tournaments.?

?What was the best concert you have ever been to??

Hands down, the best concert I have been too was a J Cole concert during his KOD tour. I have been to a few good ones, but this one was by far my favorite.?

?What is your greatest accomplishment??

My greatest accomplishment would have to be becoming and All-American my junior year in college. I think that was the most validating feeling I have ever felt in my life of what dedication, sacrifice and hard work can accomplish.??

?What is your favorite season and why??

I love being outdoors so I would have to say the Fall. Growing up, the Fall always had the excitement of wrestling season being right around the corner and I guess that feeling has always stayed with me.?

What is the best advice you have ever gotten??

“Stay hungry, stay foolish”?

?What is something interesting not many people know about you??

I read a lot of books. I go down rabbit holes on topics that interest me and just soak up as much information as I can about them. Everything from science and history to personal biographies. If a topic interests me, I dive deep into it.?

?Favorite TV/Movie??

My favorite TV show is House, closely followed by The Office. I have honestly watched both shows a few times. My favorite movie is “The Fundamentals of Caring.” I’m a big Paul Rudd fan and that movie cracks me up.?
