Interview With Andrew (Senior PPC Strategist)

1) Where were you born and raised? Also tell us something unique about yourself.

I was born in Elk Grove Village, Illinois and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. I have been in Seattle for the past two years. Something unique about myself is that I can speak Portuguese!

2) What got you interested in marketing and what was your journey?

In college I studied Advertising and was initially drawn to art direction and copywriting. After graduating, I stumbled on the certification for Google Ads and was drawn to the blending of the creativity that comes with copywriting and the fast results that comes with PPC.

3) What skills and industry do you specialize in?

I focus on paid search or search engine marketing (SEM). I have experience in SEO and Paid Social as well, but the fast results and pivots of Google Ads are what makes PPC my favorite.

I don't have a specialty in industries, but I have experience in everything from lead generation to e-commerce and small to enterprise clients.

4) What is your best soft skill?

Being adaptable is something that has been necessary in agency life. From learning a new campaign type to quickly shifting strategies in an account, not being rigid or set in your ways is necessary as digital marketing is always evolving!

5) What softwares and tools do you use regularly?

Google/Microsoft Ads, GA4, Looker Studio, Chat GPT and Excel.

6) What are your goals for the next year and into the future?

My goal is to push myself to be a better collaborator within my team and with clients. Oftentimes you just need one person to jumpstart a potential A/B test or find a solution to a problem, and I try to consistently be proactive to flag these.

7) What has been the hardest thing you dealt with in your career path?

Being confident on client calls can always be challenging if you are presenting to a large group of people. Continuing to work on presentation skills and overcome this hurdle is a goal of mine.

Presenting at conferences and public speaking has helped this significantly!

8) What is the biggest mistake you made that you want others to avoid?

Waiting for opportunities to come to you! If you have a goal to get clients, creating small attainable goals can help you reach that. If you want to get promoted, raising this to your boss and asking what you need to do never hurts.

9) Who are your favorite people in the industry that you follow?

Melissa Mackey , Mike Rhodes ?? , Miles McNair , Brad Geddes and Kasim Aslam .

10) Who has had the biggest influence on your career to date?

My first Google Ad Grant client. This was a great learning opportunity and a way to work with a large budget with low stakes!

11) What has been your favorite course that you taken and why?

I took the SMX Masterclass on GA4 which I highly recommend!

12) What would you tell yourself or someone who is just starting out in marketing?

Continue to network and ask people in marketing to chat. On calls with them, find out what skills or certifications they recommend focusing on!

13) If the entire world was listening to you, what would you have to say?

May your hats fly as high as your dreams.

14) Where can we find you?

Linkedin.
