Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Conference Highlights Importance of Cohesion Policy and Territorial Cooperation

The Interreg Central Europe Conference was held with more than 150 attendees present on-site and over 800 joining online for the morning session. The event focused on the present and future of Cohesion Policy and territorial cooperation, with representatives from various EU organizations and invited guests discussing their experiences and insights.

In the morning session, keynote speaker ?ime Erli?, Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds of the newly acceded Croatia, shared how the country was able to significantly increase its GDP through the effective use of cohesion funds. Representatives from other organizations such as the City of Brno, University of Venice, and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regional, and Water Management also gave presentations.

In the second half of the morning session, representatives from the different departments of the Interreg Central Europe Programme presented the experience of the first call and the details of the second call. The first call received a large number of good project proposals, with 53 projects ultimately funded. More than half of the project partners were "newcomers" who had never been involved in such cooperation before. The second call was opened on the day of the conference and applications are open until 17 May, with all priorities open for submission.

The afternoon session featured round table discussions organized by priority and thematic area within each priority. The roundtable on "Strengthening Innovation Capacities - Health and Social Care" featured a presentation by our senior project coordinator, István Heged?s on the newly launched Health Labs4Value project and the previously closed HoCare2.0 project.

The Interreg Central Europe Conference highlighted the importance of cooperation and the effective use of funds for regional development. It provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to learn from each other and explore potential collaborations.

We look forward to seeing the impact of the projects funded through the Interreg Central Europe Programme and the continued growth of cohesion policy and territorial cooperation in the region.
