If you’re a college student preparing for your internship, here are some ways you can get the most out of your experience:

Be intentional. You may have gone through a similar occurrence a few years ago researching and applying to colleges. Ultimately you found a place that aligned with your values, offered a learning experience that would help you thrive both academically and professionally, while building relationships that you'll carry into your future. Seeking an internship with the right company will be as important of a decision since many companies, including Ecolab, are looking to extend offers of full-time employment after a successful summer.

Make an impact. Be sure you're clear on what’s expected of you while also finding a mutual agreement of what you hope to achieve. I recommend setting learning goals and milestones to reflect on your progress through the summer while sharing this with your manager, a trusted friend and your parents – I’m sure they’ll want to hear from you as well.

Stay curious. Make an impression by asking thoughtful questions throughout the internship, because it is rare to ever have all the answers. By demonstrating an appetite to learn you will show that you're willing to be coached and can benefit from the perspectives of those around you. You will want to leave your internship knowing whether you've found a company that will continue to challenge your thinking and help you achieve your best.
