One of the most common pieces of advice given to people in their early career is to take up as many internships as you can.
And, I say why not?
Internships help you to gain practical experience, provide networking opportunities and, of course, earn your first stipend!
Also, if you intern in a different city, the experience changes altogether.
But, my takeaway from my internship period at Infosys Mysore was one of a kind.
I never enjoyed my IT training and sulked at going to the office every day.
Because I never wanted to be an engineer in the first place.
My training included learning things that I was supposed to study at college.
And each day, I used to struggle.
On top of that, I hardly explored Mysore and kept away from socializing.
So, was my internship period a complete waste?
The answer to this question is no.
Because towards the end of the internship period, those who met the set criteria could join the training department by entering Infosys Leadership Institute.
And that is when I realized that I could become a trainer.
I was fascinated by looking at the trainers who used to lead us.
I finally realized my true calling in life.
I think internships are significant not just because you learn to work, network, or earn.
But more importantly, you learn about YOURSELF.
Isn't it?
What did you learn from your first internship?
I would love to know about your internship story!

2 年As I have completed my graduation and Master's in Library and Information Science, my first internship was at our University's Library named Dr. V. S. Krishna Library, Visakhapatnam. I learned how to work professionally, how to maintain decorum at work, what etiquette should be followed while we are at work, and how to communicate with people. Divas Gupta ? ?
