Internship Recruiting Model

Internship Recruiting Model

From Internship to Hiring

There are different reasons why companies offer an internship program. In particular, we are looking at an internship program that focuses on recruiting and turning interns into employees. See the model for the internship from the early stages of the internship to hiring and how this model is filtering potential employees in the first 4 weeks.

Model Origins

This model is based on the Swiss school system, where you separate interns with different skills into different levels. The internship levels interns in the first two weeks into management and assistant levels paving their career choice for potential hire within a short internship period.

Work is the best Lesson

This model is as well based on the Swiss apprentice education level, where you place interns in your company as actual employees and assign them tasks and projects step by step, fitting their skill and responsibility levels.

The Advantage of an Internship Recruiting Model

At our agency, Toneyes, we are using the internship as the only recruitment source. The advantages is that after a 3 month internship period, the interns and the company know each other and together, can review the right decision if a hiring would benefit all parties.

Hiring people that you know and that you comfortable with.

Of course if a hiring occurs the interns are already trained. Where as, hiring staff members through job posting sites will always have the risk that employees will not pass the probation time. Using an internship program as a recruitment platform as well gives you a team where employees will have a much longer employment span.
