Internship Experience Summer 2024

During this summer I had the privilege of being able to work at Netstreit. Netstreit is a commercial real estate company that is tailored towards quality single-tenant net lease retail properties in diverse industries. My overall experience here has been phenomenal to say the least. My manager (Trent Miller) was a great role model and teacher as I would always see him running around helping out with any problems that people would have in the office and teaching me about the field and showing me the ins and outs of working in this industry. I was even lucky enough to grab lunch with the CEO (Mark Manheimer) and CFO (Daniel Donlan) which was a great way to gain insight in the industry. At first I was very nervous as this was my first professional experience but I was excited to be able to apply what I learned at UT Dallas into a real world setting. My first task was tailored towards the cybersecurity aspect of our company. I was tasked with mapping out the locations of employee logins to make sure the only people logging into our system were employees and there were no suspicious logins. This was an amazing first project to work on as I was able to utilize the skills that I procured during school and see how well I could display my knowledge. My next assignment was geared towards the data analytics aspect and it was to go through our massive databases in order to see what tables had usable data in them so that we could use them in the future to create visualizations for shareholders to accurately see how well the company is doing. Another application of this is to use this data to forecast future months and accurately project the company's earnings, etc. I have learned a lot of technical skills such as expanding my Tableau skills, learning new commands in SQL, and polishing my excel knowledge. As I wrap up this summary I would like to give a huge thanks to my amazing manager, Trent, who made working here the best experience I could have gotten and would like to show my appreciation to Netstreit for taking me in as an intern and allowing me to start my professional career in a great environment.
