Interns' Experiences: Behind the Scenes at DRVR

Welcome to an insider’s look at the experiences of our interns at DRVR! Under the guidance of our CEO, David Henderson , our interns — Matias Lehtel? , Luukas Karppi , Xiangshi Meng , and Teemu — immersed themselves in challenging and rewarding projects. We caught up with them to hear about their time with us, their adventures in Thailand, and their personal growth. Here’s what they shared:

Introductions

Interns from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland

Luukas: Hey, I’m Luukas, 22 years old, studying Industrial Management at Metropolia University in Finland.

Matias: Hi, I’m Matias, a 21-year-old student from Finland, studying Industrial Engineering and Management. Alongside my studies, I also work as a salesperson.

Teemu: Hi everyone, I’m Teemu, 25 years old, and I study Industrial Management at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

Xiangshi: Hello, I’m Xiangshi Meng, a 22-year-old second-year Industrial Management student at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

Life at DRVR: what did you guys do at DRVR?

Luukas: Our tasks were pretty diverse. We worked on project and process management, account reconciliation, and market research. I spent most of my time on account reconciliation, but the variety made the internship really engaging.

Teemu: Same here. Account reconciliation was challenging but very educational. We also did a lot of market analysis and project management, which gave us a comprehensive understanding of the company’s operations.

Xiangshi: I focused on business processes and project management as well. This internship really sharpened my accounting skills and introduced me to the telematics field’s terminology.

Matias: I learned a lot about business processes, accounting, and fleet management. The flexible work environment at DRVR was something I really appreciated.

Learning and Growth: what did you learn during your internship?

Matias: The hands-on experience was invaluable. DRVR’s management was always there to guide us, providing feedback that helped us improve continuously.

Teemu: Definitely. The real-world tasks we handled, especially account reconciliation, were both challenging and instructive. It felt good to contribute meaningfully to the company.

Xiangshi: Initially, I was nervous about working in a foreign country, but I adapted quickly. My language skills, especially those related to telematics, improved a lot.

Luukas: Working closely with the DRVR team also enhanced my language skills. Different tasks gave me a better understanding of the company’s workflow and made the internship more interesting.

Adventures in Thailand: how did you spend your time outside of work?

Luukas: We explored a lot! Bangkok and Koh Larn were highlights. Our group was really into fitness, so we hit the gym regularly. And of course, we tried as much Thai food as we could!

Badminton with DRVR team

Teemu: I’m pretty sporty, so I exercise a lot. We even played badminton with our coworkers a few times, which was great fun. The sunny weather and delicious Thai cuisine were amazing.

Xiangshi: Discovering the Thai kitchen was one of my favorite activities. After a couple of weeks, living in Thailand became a comfortable routine.

Matias: I enjoyed every moment in Thailand, thanks to the flexibility and support from the DRVR team. It made my time there both educational and fun.

Final Thoughts: any last words about your internship?

Luukas: This has been one of the most memorable and educational experiences of my life. The skills I acquired at DRVR will be incredibly valuable in my future career. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity.

Teemu: I really enjoyed my time at DRVR and in Thailand. This experience was very valuable, providing insights into how DRVR’s business operates. Big thanks to CEO David and the whole DRVR team!

Xiangshi: It was a pleasure working at DRVR. The cheerful and motivating environment, combined with the friendly and helpful colleagues, made it a wonderful experience.

Matias: Overall, I had a fantastic time. The knowledge, experience, and support we received from the DRVR team made this internship truly special.

Highly recommended & thankyou DRVR for having some Bangkok Prep kids on Summer Internship last year (inc my son). They got to smash up remote control cars, complete a scientific crash investigation & no coincidence that back at school their maths & physics tests now scored highly.
