Internet of Things – 2020

IoT, or the Internet of Things, by name it can be easily recognized that it is a technology by which humanly things got interconnected with the digital information system. It is a system that allows the billions of physical devices to be connected digitally with each other and thus to collect and share data between themselves. It is an interrelating computer device that actually transfers data to any devices, whether mechanical or digital machines, from any objects having unique identities, like any animals or people, by connecting them over a network, but without being interacted directly with each other, just like a human to human interaction or a human to computer interaction. It is not like the huge rocket science, it is just as simple as by adding sensors and intelligence to the digital devices that make them automated. All theses are dependent on the chip processor and obviously wireless networking.

Since the invention of the telephone, the IoT is making revolutionary moments. The first idea of adding sensors and intelligence to some basic objects like these hard digitals and mechanical devices had come up at the times of the 1980s and 1990s. The process can not be processed as the process was slow, by being connected with an internet-connected vending machine, and also not having the proper technologies for it. But soon after adopting RFID technologies with some low-power chips, which can communicate wirelessly, the invention of the wireless network and broadband internet has been taken place. This process had been used in the primary IoT devices which were for tracking purposes.

From then, till now, we are watching many devices to use IoT technologies. From a pill to automated self-driving cars, all are the parts of IoT and all of these are capable of work on the wireless network. Even a smartwatch and also a fitness wristband or any other wearable digital devices are also being considered as an IoT device. Generally, the IoT enables the devices to communicate with real-time data, just by adding a little digital intelligence into the devices without any human beings. Thus, this IoT actually combines the physical world with digital networks.

We use our latest digital devices like smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices to do more than communicate. These devices additionally let us track the location of a person or a thing or an address, also to check up self-health by using certain applications and also to connect with other devices. Thus the devices also learn about our preferences and store the data.

Day by day the IoT is upgrading itself by certain trends. So, now I will talk about some 2020 trends of IoT below:

The invention of Smart City:

By using certain automated devices, the number of smart cities is rising up from the year 2020. With the increased invention of automated offices, automated homes, automated transportation, along with automated devices, the cities are being smart ones. By 2023, the estimated spending for smart cities project is expecting to be reached up to approximately $189.5 billion by its infrastructures and also by the more relevant networking and energy. Data-driven public services and intelligent transportation are expected to be more relevant and stronger in the upcoming years. Also, the smart cities project on a large scale is growing up and filling all the surroundings with the sensors, thus to help us to understand and control the environment fully.

Increase of Smart Offices:

Just as talking about smart homes, there are lots of smart technologies and smart devices are being used, which are also eco-friendly and cost-effective. There are lots of automated thermostats and security options that are increasingly being used by the millennials at their smart homes. These smart devices now will not be limited to the home only, as the offices trying to use these devices to make them smart. Like smart light with sensors which will save the electricity cost also, as it goes off by itself when no one is there, by using its sensors. Also, the smart video doorbell and smart locks, which will be used to track the employees and other staff. Smart thermostats can be used for measuring the temperature of the room using the sensors. Thus it will lead to office automation and the rising of smart offices.

Healthcare Industry:

The healthcare industry is one of the major industries with a complex network, which is still growing and is fully tech-dependent. This industry is using IoT in many purposes as an example, to save the costs of screening patients by using certain wearable health sensors. Another example is the making of some ingestible smart pills, which can be used to transfer various data about the patients, like medicine effectiveness, along with the future step in the medication and also with better decision making about the patient’s health. For a smart hospital, another example of using IoT is to use indoor GPS, to track any patient or staff or pieces of equipment. This smart invention is also being taken up by the physical therapy and the nursing home too.

Unitization with AI:

By being smart, all of these organizations will produce huge data. Also along with the growth of various IoT devices like IoT camera, appliances, and the sensors, it is estimated to connect 41 billion devices with each other by 2025, and together they will produce approximately 80 ZB datasets, which is unable to analyze by humans. In this case, humans have to take the help of AI, to analyze and interpret these huge amounts of datasets. Thus, it will optimize the user experience, as well as save energy and also make more efficient processes. Big companies like Amazon, Microsoft and Google are making AI, which can be used in healthcare and transportation, as both of these have a large infrastructure and complex networks.

Voice Activation:

Voice activation in the IoT devices is going to be increased from the year 2020, as it will be most effective for the consumers and also for the businesses. By 2023, it is estimated to get almost 8 billion of voice assistants, which can be helpful for the consumer services, as it will save the costs and the time too. Also, an up-gradation of this voice process will take place by the coming year, as the voice recognition features will be added. Thus to add software to recognize among the individual’s voices hence multiple users can use the same devices, it will save the costs for the communication. Even, the customers can connect and also make conversation with the voice assistant from the homeplace too.

More relevant networking and wireless sensing technologies:

More advanced technologies will be placed, thus, as an example, by 2020, we will get the 5G network, with more speed and more security. This relevance system not only benefits the specific consumer businesses but also for every kind of business. Like, by using more relevant wireless signaling, the companies can create radar systems to make more efficient virtual assistants and also the drones.

As the year goes by, the IoT becomes more advanced and important system to make the companies interconnected over a wireless network to share the information regarding everything and also to make a connection between many things, people and processes with the help of data, this data can be stored and backed up also, as it will never be lost. And thus, it is clearly visible, that 2020 will be a very important year for this IT solution giving applications as well as the software.
