Internet Marketing and Digital Marketing: What Are the Latest Trends?

When it comes to knowing the difference between digital marketing and internet marketing, it is important to know the trends in the industry and know how companies can allocate their budgets for marketing.

What is Digital Marketing?

This is the term that is a set of processes that allows for a product or a company to promote its services or products in a completely digital setting. When it comes to digital marketing it is surpassing traditional marketing in many ways such as with the transition from paper ads to Facebook and other PPC campaigns.

There are many other channels that are a part of digital marketing but a few of them are: web sites, social media, ad banners, email marketing, and SEO. There are also many other formats out there that have a digital format.

What is Internet Marketing?

This is a smaller area of digital marketing, it is one of the most important parts of the services that are out there and is still a part of internet marketing. Here are the major channels in which people market.

1. Your Website: This is a location where all your customers go and this is one of the main areas of starting and maintaining traffic for others. When you are looking to start a campaign, a website is often the most common location for you to start promoting a campaign and this is the destination to where you are trying to get more visitors.

2. Your Search Marketing: This is made up of two very important activities, SEO and PSA. Many people are confused about the difference in these two activities. Here it is.

SEO is about using techniques that will allow you to rank higher on sites like Google. That happens when you are working to look at on the page SEO and off the page SEO. Then there is also the implementation of PPC or Pay Per Click, this allows you to advertise on Google and on other partner networks.

Search marketing is all about finding promotion through all the different platforms for search engines.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Social Media Marketing is another part of the internet that has gleaned tons of attention in late years. It is one of the ways that you are going to reach new customers. There are tons of people who spend time on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other sites on a regular basis. There are also many other digital marketers out there who spend tons of time on social media and it is a major part of their digital marketing campaigns as it should be.

What is Content Marketing?

This was SEO in the past but that was when link building was no longer a part of the new content marketing strategy which is the new SEO. Creating great content is now the bedrock of great SEO and it means that you want to have access to creating that kind of content from the beginning and not working on link building or some other cheap method to bring people to your site.

What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing is one of the most important tools out there for marketers. Although it is often looked past, it is one of the most effective ways to convert your visitors quickly and easily into customers. When you are marketing, you will see that you are working on getting all the email addresses out there from those that are wanting to be a part of your list. From there you can send them newsletters and offers.

What is Mobile Marketing? When you are looking at and using your phone on a regular basis, you will see that you are a part of the new revolution. More and more people are using their phones to search, and they are finding their products and services on their phones. Of all the traffic that is coming to a website around 30% now is mobile. When you are looking at all the sites out there this seems to be the case. It is worth looking at all the analytics out there and seeing if this is the case for your site too.

Mobile marketing is about creating content and ads that are going to be seen on a mobile device. that you need to know that all your advertising is mobile friendly as well as friendly for other locations and devices where it may be sold at a product.

What is Banner Advertising?

You can find banners pretty much everywhere and you will see that they are there to promote services and products in different kinds of formats.

What is the Latest Trend Out There?

When you are interested in finding out how things work and the ways that large companies are allocating their budgets, the key is to look at the trends that are outlined by Gartner. Here are the most important findings from Gartner.

1. Marketing budgets are 12% of all company revenues and this will increase.

2. Digital marketing is now 14% of all the marketing budget.

3. 50% of all the activities are being outsourced to other countries.

4. What are the most important activities? They are web presence as well as digital marketing for the US market.

5. Where is the investment going? Now the investment is going to ecommerce, social media, content creation as well as mobile marketing.

When you look at the internet marketing as a part of digital marketing you will see it is not something different. It is a part of all the other platforms out there that allow you to look at social media as a tool as well. Change is an incredible thing, and it is important to keep up with the market.
