The Internet Explorer you occasionally used is now dying

On January 12th Microsoft is ending support ending support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10.  They will be releasing the final patch and encouraging any users to upgrade to a more recent Microsoft branded browser like Microsoft Edge.  The end of support basically means any older Internet Explorer browser will no longer receive security patches, technical support and would be potentially vulnerable to viruses and hackers alike.  A recently-announced patch will be applied to a few bug fixes and prompt all users with the “End of Life” notification letting users know to upgrade to IE11 or Microsoft Edge which is the successor to Internet Explorer with Windows 10 in mind.

This of course goes without saying that even if your browser of choice is an alternative to Microsoft like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari….that you should still update to a newer iteration of the browser to avoid any possible bugs, holes or attack vulnerabilities. This move in place since August 2014, though, there are still several hundred million users still using a soon to be obsolete version of Internet Explorer.

As always your Shield Watch team is here if any questions or concerns arise about this upgrade.  Thank you and have a great day!
