Internet Explorer 11 isn’t going away next week

By Matt Heller: Read time 2 min 12 sec

The timeline for Internet Explorer 11’s final demise is confusing. Microsoft tried to be clear, but the variety of services used by the browser just made it complicated. Add to that the product naming schemes, and it’s no wonder customers call us in a panic believing Internet Explorer 11 will be unsupported next week.?

It’s not. What’s happening is that?Office 365 is ending support for Internet Explorer 11. Microsoft will continue to support the Internet Explorer 11 product itself until next summer.??

For customers that have applications still built on IE11, don’t panic. You have time. But that doesn’t mean waiting on your plans. Starting now will give you the time it takes to migrate applications using the Browsium solutions. We’ve been doing this kind of thing for more than a decade, so we know how the process works. We know what it takes for an organization to migrate from one browser version to another and how much more it takes to migrate from one browser platform to another seamlessly.?

Microsoft Edge is entirely different from IE – from the ground up. Core application platforms like ActiveX aren’t supported. Legacy systems in industries like medical providers, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, logistics operations, financial services, pipeline operations, government, and more have long-standing investments in soon-to-be unsupported technologies. Browsium can help keep them operational where appropriate and support the path to modernized platforms when that makes the proper business sense.?

We give you control over when to make a move and how to do it. While IE11 support isn’t ending tomorrow for your business apps, the clock is ticking. The sooner we start together, the better to ensure a smooth transition for your enterprise.??

Very insightful learning from this and now I have made my 'little' plan to dig deeper on this. May I outreach to you when I am ready?. I think we can use this as an inspiration today ”Do not wait: the time will never be 'just right'. Start where you stand, and work whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along.” -Napoleon Hill. Your effort means a world to my entire team.
