Countdown to the Disney Cruise

No Internet Access

I did a thing a couple of weeks back.? I survived almost a week with no Internet access. I know it sounds strange.? And I survived.?

I came back to 944 email messages.? Some were work, and some were personal.?

Here is what I realized during that time “off the grid”:

  • People and Life will go on.?? If you trust your staff and team and prepare them for your absence, they will do what they can do
  • The first and second days are the roughest.? I equate to quitting any other vice, for me, it was similar to when I gave up Soda.
  • The energy and recharge from this are not measurable
  • You do not understand the volume of spam messages out there.? It is obscene

Full transparency, it was a Disney Cruise.? We did not take our kids.? We could have paid for internet access, but we chose not to.

I would challenge you to try being disconnected and see what happens.

I totally agree, I love going up north and "getting away from it all" for a week. I'd suggest taking it a step further - no news. I did that a few times, and it a nice break from all the doom-saying.
