Yoga is a way of living an elevated and peaceful life that originated in ancient India. The practice of yoga has been there since the earliest ages of human civilization. Nowadays, you can say it is a trendsetter for physical and mental well-being. Each yoga asana helps improve strength, flexibility, and balance. It helps in achieving a peaceful balance between mind and body.
The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the world every year on June 21. The idea of International Yoga Day was initially proposed by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and promoted by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in September 2014 in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. He asserted:
“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover a sense of oneness with yourself, the world, and nature. Changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, can help in well-being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.”
To keep up with this mindful trend, at InfoGlobalTech, we also celebrated International Yoga Day with enthusiasm and vigour. We commenced an enlightening session with our guest and the renowned instructor Dr. Hariprakash. The interactive one-hour session was refreshing and relaxing for our diligent employees. Dr. Hariprakash is a Professor in the MBA department at Srinivas Institute of Technology in Mangalore. He has 23 years of experience in the Academics and Edtech industry and currently working as a volunteer and a yoga instructor in the health and wellness center of Art of Living. Our virtual session was attended by almost 100 of our employees. Everyone participated in the yoga activities and learned a great deal about yoga and meditation. The instructor demonstrated basic yoga asanas and asked the participants to follow his instructions. In addition, he also explained the benefits of each asana to the participants. Some of the yoga asanas performed in the session included stretching yoga asana for the neck, tadasana or the Mountain Pose, Trikonasana yoga, and Kapalbhati Pranayama yoga. To add more charm to the soulful session, the instructor also spoke about the importance of the well-being of our mind and body and how to lead a peaceful life.
At the end of the session, there were a few minutes of meditation.
“Become aware of your thoughts—whether good or bad. Be in harmony with your thought. Let them flow as they are, without any resistance. Feel the sensations of your body while inhaling and exhaling.” He instructed.
The session ended with a feedback session from the participants.
